VAMPYRES Book is Now Available

VAMPYRES the innovative horror movie, produced in Britain and directed by the Spanish emigrated-to-England José Larraz, was premiered in UK in 1974 and one year later in USA. The movie told the story of two insatiable women who recruited travellers for blood and sex orgies, in which the newcomers bled to death. VAMPYRES was a successful flick and today it is a cult movie. Forty years after, José Ramón Larraz took part as a promoter and screenwriter in a new view of that story called VAMPYRES, but this time directed by Víctor Matellano.

A new book tells about the origin of that witch story for adults, full of violence, blood and sex, reviewing both versions from 1975 and 2015.

This bilingual (English-Spanish) publication includes the original screenplay from 1974 by José Ramón Larraz, a prologue written  by one of the movie main stars Caroline Munro (MANIAC, CAPTAIN KRONOS: VAMPYRE HUNTER, DRACULA A.D. 1972), and also articles about the movie by several writers: the cult actress Lone Fleming (TOMBS OF THE BLIND DEAD) and the FX magician Colin Arthur (THE NEVERENDING STORY), who was in charge of FX and make-up in both films, Carlos Díaz Maroto, the screenwriter Ángel Agudo, Ángel Mora producer executive and also the ones by the directors José Ramón Larraz and Víctor Matellano. A lot of graphic material can be found inside together with the cover created by Daniel Fumero.

Víctor Matellano’s VAMPYRES will be shown in the following months. It is produced by Artistic Films and starred by Caroline Munro, Christian Stamm, Veronica Bacorn, Marta Flich, Anthony Rotsa, Víctor Vidal, Almudena León and Luis Hacha. There are also contributions from euro-cult figures such as Lone Fleming, Fele Martínez (OPEN YOUR EYES), May Heatherly (PIECES), Antonio Mayans (NIGHTMARE CITY) and Conrado San Martín (THE AUWFUL DR. ORLOFF)

The book is published by Sial-Pigmalión and it can be bought here:

The Inhabitants

The film revolves around a young couple who gets more than they bargained for when they purchase and renovate an old bed and breakfast in New England. A series of troubling events leads the husband to suspect something terrible is hiding within the walls of this old house, and whatever it is has set its sights on his wife.

THE INHABITANTS was filmed on location inside one of the oldest houses in New England and home to the Salem Witch Trial children. The Noyes-Parris House (c. 1669) was owned by the infamous Rev. Samuel Parris from The Crucible. His daughter Betty Parris and niece Abigail Williams made the initial accusations leading to the tragic witch trials that took place in Salem, Massachusetts.

Starring: Elise Couture Stone, and Michael Reed

Written and directed by: Michael and Shawn Rasmussen (writers of John Carpenter's "The Ward" & creators of "Dark Feed")

The Night Keep: Podcast

The Night Keep is a new website devoted to horror - but mainly as a focal point for the new line of horror musick. The Night Keep was formed by J. Daniel Edenfield (composer, musician, writer for Throne of Anguish, and Sinnestar) as a way to branch out from the metal genres of music and focus more on his storytelling. For the fans of Throne of Anguish, namely its classical dark ambient albums, "Shade of Night" and "A Tale of Shadows", The Night Keep is where you will now find all the Cinematic Dark Musick.

The Night Keep Podcast is a multi-faceted tool mainly used a platform for Daniel to voice his varying opinions on horror in media. Another purpose for the podcast is to help give voice to the independent producers of horror - filmmakers, writers, musicians, artists - all are welcome onto the podcast. The purpose of the podcast is not to bash or belittle indie releases - that luxury is reserved for the established "big budget" studios who are capable of withstanding scrutiny.

Check out some recent episodes…

Welcome to The Night Keep. In this episode, I give my brief review on E3, and some of its teases. Although not necessarily horror, I relate the Hype Train of gaming with the genre of horror productions. Notable news topics, RIP Christopher Lee, and a review of "It Follows"... was it worth my time, and possibly yours? Then, I review the book, "Cannibal Metropolis" by Saurav Dutt, and yes, this gory little splatterfest is worth your time. I also give an invitation to horror writers, storytellers, and basically anyone that likes to create horror stories - send me your audio stories, let's put them to music, get some cool horror audio going! I would be more than happy to air the stories as a whole podcast episode. Of course, you would retain all the rights to your stories, as I would the music. It could be fun.

That's right, 6A, as in, The Night Keep is now going bi-monthly. News topics dominate the header of this episode, as well as a nice little discourse on Twin Peaks. Also, I break down a nice little segment on DIY horror, what I do, and some encouragement on your own horror projects. Happy Star Wars Day, and quick review on Death Troopers - zombie fiction in the Star Wars Universe (and yes, and it's actually pretty good).

Here's a breakdown on topics discussed:
RIP Silent Hills
New Clive Barker Scarlet Gospel details
Five Nights at Freddy's movie news!
and a nice, lengthy, spoiler-free discussion on Twin Peaks

And one of these days, I will come up with a better naming & numbering convention. In this episode, I don’t really have a major topic, other than Dark Fantasy Horror… something about which I have intimate knowledge.

I give quick news tidbits concerning Robot Jox on Blu Ray; David Lynch is back with Twin Peaks; a new Nightbreed collected anthology of stories, and Techland halts production on “Hellraid”… my most anticipated game for the year (other than Doom).

I review the movie “Nightlight” – found footage, woods, spooky stuff happens; is it worth your time?

Then a nice little monologue on inspirations I gather for horror, namely Dark Fantasy Horror, and the tragic lack of quality horror in fantasy settings. I mention such notable titles as AD&D Ravenloft, World of Darkness’ Vampire: The Masqerade, Heretic, Castlevania, and the tragically abandoned game “Witchaven”.

Enjoy the horror, and hopefully you will enjoy the ramblings. I sample some of my previous audio narrative works from my album “A Tale of Shadows”.

First Teaser Trailer from Horror Flick MASSACRE Featuring Members of Billy Idol, Samhain, Marilyn Manson

The first teaser trailer from DEATHAUS FILMS’ bloody horror short MASSACRE, has just been released via the film’s Youtube account today. The film features rockstar cameos galore, with the two male leads being played by LONDON MAY (Samhain), and BILLY MORRISON (Billy Idol, The Cult). But if two rockstars wasn’t enough, the film also features a brief guest appearance by JEORDIE WHITE (Marilyn Manson) as a Street Detective, ROB PATTERSON (ex-Korn, Filter, Otep) as a police officer and JEFF HILLIARD (‘The Good life’) as a criminal. The music for the film was also composed by JEORDIE WHITE & ROB PATTERSON, and features a track from artist and musician SHANNON CRAWFORD.

Directed by award-winning director ERIK BOCCIO (Pussy Riot’s ‘Putin Lights Up the Fires’ video/prolific  funnyordie.com Director under the moniker ‘Weird Fellas’), produced by Damian Lea (Cemetery Gates) and New Zealand-born writer, actress and Suicide Girl, PANDIE SUICIDE (Ditch Day Massacre, David Lynch’s “Crazy Clown Time”), the film centers around Marianne James, a girl who wakes up at the site of a bloody mass murder and can’t remember what happened.

The lead roles see quite a departure in looks and roles for some of the actors with heavily tattooed PANDIE SUICIDE and BILLY MORRISON playing much more conservative looking characters, and the former almost unrecognizable in blonde locks. LONDON MAYalso has a bit of a change from his usual black and sometimes bloody get up in post-Misfits/ pre-Danzig punk rock outfit SAMHAIN as the hardened Detective, but fear not, there will definitely be blood aplenty for the slasher fans in this bloody little flick.

The film was shot on the Epic Red Dragon camera by Director of Photography EVAN PESSES (Pussy Riot ‘Putin Light Up the Fires’) and was edited in New Zealand by GREG DANIELS (‘The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies’). The film also features an appearance from KATY FOLEY (Ditch Day Massacre). Stay tuned for the debut of the film a little later in 2015, but for now, readers can check out the .25 sec teaser trailer below!
