Perfect Candidate Special Edition + First 10 minutes of Deadly XMas available now

THE PERFECT CANDIDATE SPECIAL EDITION FEATURING THE FIRST 10 MINUTES OF DEADLY XMAS AVAILABLE FOR DIGITAL DOWNLOAD

October 23, 2012 (Northbrook, IL) - With a mere two weeks to go until the nation decides who will lead us for the next four years, Dave Campfield's Fourth Horizon Cinema and Sean Steffen's Bat Country Films come together to bring you "The Perfect Candidate," a new short political satire about two B movie actors (Joe Estevez and Robert Z'Dar) chosen by an unscrupulous would be campaign manager (Ken MacFarlane) to run on their party's ticket for President of the United States.

In the vein of recent TV hits "Extras" and "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "The Perfect Candidate" pokes fun at both the American political system, and Hollywood's larger than life personas, including the concept of the career celebrity. Joe Estevez and Robert Z'Dar, known for their roles in a multitude of low budget films dating back the last three decades, play their personas for laughs as down on their luck actors trying to make a buck any way they can when Joe's wild video rant about how messed up the system is goes viral and soon captures the attention of the N.E.W. party.

Screenwriter and creator Joe Randazzo cites the work of contemporary comedians Ricky Gervais and Larry David, as well as Charlie Chaplin, and Laurel & Hardy as his influences. "When I approached Joe Estevez about playing the part, I wanted immediately to go the route of shows like Extras, Life's Too Short, and Curb Your Enthusiam, in which we get celebrities to play themselves in a way that pokes fun at their personas and Hollywood at large, while still keeping the pathos that was so indelibly linked with Chaplin, and the buddy comedy feel of a Laurel & Hardy short, and I felt the 2012 Presidential campaign was the perfect backdrop for this type of parody."

"With the structure of the political system, money and power has more influence than common sense and facts, countries can be bought and sold by corporations, and people can't see the truth even right in front of their own eyes, and the character Jerry Gainer is a perfect representation of the sleazy political advisor that would exploit the loopholes in the system," says co-creator and co-producer Sean Steffen.

The film is directed by Dave Campfield, an established filmmaker with 3 feature length films under his belt, two of which, Caesar and Otto's Summer Camp Massacre and Caesar and Otto's Deadly XMas, are parodies of the horror genre. In fact Deadly XMas has had a successful run, recently finishing second place at Elvira's Horror Hunt, the new competition by Elvira, Mistress of the Dark and Peaches Christ, partnered with Stan Lee's Comikaze Expo. The first ten minutes of that film, which features an all-star cast of B movie legends including Linnea Quigley, Felissa Rose, and Brinke Stevens, are included in the special edition download.

Also rounding out the release is Campfield and Randazzo's previous short "Caesar and Otto meet Dracula's Lawyer,"`featuring Troma honcho and Toxic Avenger creator Lloyd Kaufman as Judge Stoker Browning, who is presiding over the wrongful death case of Steven A. Dracula (Ed Dennehy).

The Special Edition of The Perfect Candidate, along with Dracula's Lawyer and the first 10 minutes of Deadly XMas, is available for only $4.99.

The House that Cried Blood

Here's a sneak peek at the newest Halloween short from Sideshow Pictures and Frank Sabatella (Blood Night: The Legend of Mary Hatchet, Night of the Pumpkin) The House that Cried Blood follows four young adults, who, through a dare by their leader Lynch (Damian Maffei), venture into "Old Lady Death's" house in search of her rotting corpse. What begins as regular Halloween tomfoolery turns into a night of terror as what awaits them within the walls of The House that Cried Blood... Is an evil none of them could ever fathom in their wildest dreams.

The approach taken in The House that Cried Blood is almost the exact opposite of that in Night of the Pumpkin. Whereas NotP delivers the goods through a tongue-in-cheek, wild retro-splatter ride, THTCB builds the tension and mounting fear through atmosphere, performances, and gen-yoo-ine thrills.

Stars: Damian Maffei (Christmas with the Dead, Closed for the Season) Andrea Boehlke (Survivor: Redemption Island) Ray Zupp, Ashlee Mundy

Directed by: Frank Sabatella (Blood Night: The Legend of Mary Hatchet)

F/X handled by Emmy Nominated Jermy Selenfriend (Boardwalk Empire, Blood Night, Men in Black 3) and Monster in my Closet fx From Slideshow Pictures

I was told this will be one “badass” film! However, they need a little help from you to make it happen so please click the pic and support this project today!

Acort International, one of the top distributors of independent films in the global marketplace, has recently the acquired sci-fi/thriller “NEW ORDER” for world-wide distribution. Distribution plans are currently in consideration which will include a North American DVD release and cable/satellite/internet VOD run, a limited theatrical as well as being showcased at this year’s 2012 AFM. All worldwide rights will be available. Interested parties should inquire with Acort International's director of sales, Maureen van Mourik, at MaureenV@AcortInternational.com.

About The Film:
NEW ORDER” takes place in 2033, three years after a worldwide viral outbreak which wipes out 90% of the population, and follows a small group of survivors who have banded together and find shelter in a country house inhabited by Dr. Cornelius, a professor working on a cure. But when these survivors soon turn into test subjects in order to find a vaccine, side effects become present and some of the group start to develop extraordinary neurological activity giving them paranormal powers, but with fatal consequences. The film is shot in two vantage points, via the subjective and a video diary which documents the group’s progress.

“New Order” was filmed entirely in a studio outside Milan, Italy during the summer of 2011. Up and coming writer/director Marco Rosson completed the screenplay and immediately reached out to legendary actor Franco Nero (Die Hard 2, Django Unchained, Cars 2) knowing that the roll of Dr. Cornelius was scripted with him in mind. After some discussions Nero agreed to the project and filming commenced. Shot in 25 days with post-production just completed in January 2012, the film was given a world premiere in February at the Los Angles Italian Film Festival where it was met with critical acclaim. The film is in consideration at a number of films festivals for 2012.

The Green Marker Scare

This Halloween brings a third feature from Graham Jones whom VARIETY calls “a very talented director”.

THE GREEN MARKER SCARE is an Irish horror movie animated by children that contains virtually no sex or violence but which according to Jones may be even scarier as a result.

"Explicit or effects-driven stuff has never interested me as a filmmaker," Jones says. "It’s always been my sense that what you don't show is more powerful. I'd wager THE GREEN MARKER SCARE is more disturbing than any big-budget American horror this year because not only does it deal with people who prey on children but was actually animated by a group of children. It has a terrible authenticity.”

A father of three himself, Jones ensured that he was ethical in the making of the film and has a history of dealing provocatively with challenging issues like suicide, nomadic communities and schizophrenia in his movies and books. He also favours female protagonists. The main character in THE GREEN MARKER SCARE is an Irish girl-sleuth called Noreen who discovers that something very sinister is taking place in her small country town.

"We decided to start with the old mold of the girl-detective," Jones says. "But instead of giving her harmless art burglars to deal with, throw her the worst thing imaginable and watch her mind grapple with it. The penny still hasn’t dropped about Ritual Abuse in the 21st century and that made it interesting for a naïve cartoon character to stumble across.”

Jones' new film is also unusual in terms of distribution which is testament to how much the media landscape has changed since he began making films. His debut HOW TO CHEAT IN THE LEAVING CERTIFICATE went on general release in cinemas all over Ireland, his second movie FUDGE 44 offended Japan on DVD and now his third THE GREEN MARKER SCARE is premiering online until the end of November:

THE BAY was selected first runner-up for the  BlackBerry People's Choice Midnight Madness Award Toronto Film Festival 2012

Two million fish washed ashore. One thousand blackbirds dropped from the sky. On July 4, 2009 a deadly menace swept through the quaint seaside town of Claridge, Maryland, but the harrowing story of what happened that Independence Day has never been told - until now.

From Oscar-winning* director Barry Levinson and the producers of Paranormal Activity and Insidious comes this nerve-shredding tale of a small town plunged into absolute terror. The authorities believed  they had buried the truth about the tragedy that claimed over 700 human lives. Now, three years later, a reporter has emerged with footage revealing the cover-up and an unimaginable killer: a mysterious parasitic outbreak.

Told from the perspective of those who were there and saw what happened, The Bay unfolds over 24 hours though people's iPhones, Androids, 911 calls, web cams, and  whatever else could be used to document the nightmare in Claridge.
