The Holidaze: Hi-C Horror Collection- Series 2

The Holidaze celebrates everything and anything that puts us in a daze during the Holiday seasons. Whether it's Halloween, Christmas, Valentines day or Summer, there are always little things that contribute to making those days a season-long extravaganza! In addition, there are always things we can do to make those seasons even better than they already are! That is what The Holidaze emphasizes and will continue do as the seasons change.

To celebrate Halloween, The Holidaze created the Hi-C Horror Collection. Here are just a few pieces from series 2:

The Dream Cycle of Randolph Carter

The Dream Cycle of Randolph Carter is a web series that takes place five years after H.P. Lovecraft's "The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath".

The series follows weird fiction writer Randolph Carter, who has forgotten the lessons learned from his adventures and now continues his work as an unpopular author. His only profitable series is the Kadath Cycle, a series of books documenting his time in the Dreamlands and sold as fiction.

Disinterested in the world around him and unable to return to the Dreamlands, Carter finds himself willingly falling into trouble after discovering a strange cult and possibly a grand, cosmic conspiracy. Seeking meaning in life, Carter attempts to solve this mystery with the help of his publicist Laura and old friends Joel Manton and Harley Warren.

The series takes place in the modern day and explores various themes, including nihilism, living as an artist, and the deceptive power of nostalgia. By expanding on these ideas and applying them to a mix of loyal Lovecraft adaptations and original stories, Dream Cycle will provide entertainment specifically for those with an interest in Lovecraft, his contemporaries, and the weird fiction genre.

Amongst the stories being adapted are "The Statement of Randolph Carter", "The Terrible Old Man", "The Rats in the Walls", and a mystery two-part adaptation of one of Lovecraft's most famous stories. Beyond season one, there is hope to explore both famous Lovecraft stories ("The Shadow Over Innsmouth") and more obscure works ("The Temple"). If the series reaches its intended three season length, it will culminate in "The Silver Key".

Meet Elliot: The New Face of Cyber Nightmares!

San Francisco,California--September  26th, 2013

Many of you underground horror fans may have caught a glimpse of a morbid conceptual sci-fi short titled WIREBOY, a cyber nightmare from Cassandra Sechler. Now...comes an equally morbid feature film to be shot on magnetic tape from Craig Jacobson: ELLIOT, the new face of cyber nightmares!

While director Craig Jacobson continues many of the themes, visual aesthetics, and concepts introduced in WIREBOY, he explores them through different angles with a completely new and unique narrative for ELLIOT. To give you an idea of what to expect in ELLIOT, imagine if Terry Gilliam’s BRAZIL took place in the world of WIREBOY, with traces of cyber debris amalgamation in TETSUO: THE IRON MAN combined with the existential crisis of ROBOCOP and the embedded social criticism of David Cronenberg’s films.

ELLIOT is a dark dystopian thriller with an underlying social commentary on the way our existence is changing through social media and new technologies. The story of Elliot is inspired by spiders and focuses on the struggle of one man grappling with his second self, the distrust of his own cognition, and the anxiety brought on by his external obligations. The themes in the film reflect a deep critique of society and the obsessions with maintenance necessary for the second self and the detrimental implications therein.

The production is underway with several scenes for the film already shot. The cast and crew has been formed, consisting of enthusiastic local artists and friends such as Anthony Russell, Peter Cochrane, Geoffrey Colburn, Joshua Coffy, Phoebe Osborne, John Espey, Anthony Lerma, Hannah Choe, Colton Long, as well as longtime collaborator and Dreams For Dead Cats Productions partner Cassandra Sechler. The only thing the team for ELLIOT needs to fully realize the film are the remaining supplies for set, costumes, makeup, effects, and prop building along with an appropriate space to first construct and then house the large set pieces for several days of shooting for the main scenes in the story.

To acquire production funds, the team has turned to crowdfunding and have launched an IndieGoGo campaign to raise money which will be used to rent out a studio space and purchase materials to build the set and remaining materials to make it all happen. Posters, copies of the film on dvd and VHS, as well as the soundtrack on both cd and cassette tape, and other extremely limited edition, campaign specific surprises are being given away to backers of the project.

For those of you who have yet to see WIREBOY and want to get a taste of what you might be in for with ELLIOT (times 1000, plus dialogue, and the richest soundtrack yet to be experienced with visuals and concepts that will melt your heart and mind), you may view Wireboy online until October 31st on vimeo! So check it out, and then check out ELLIOT and help make this dark, poignant film a reality and create a well-deserved monster of a feature film!

This marks the films first festival entry, and will be the West Coast Premiere of the nostalgic slasher film.

The Late Night Horror Film Festival will have its opening ceremony on Weds, October 2nd at the Krikorian Premiere Theatres/Downey Cinema 10 located at 8200 3rd Street Downey, CA 90241. The Opening Ceremonies will begin at 7pm that evening. Tickets are on sale through www.latenighthorrorfilmfest.com now.

Lindsay Serrano will be attending the festival, along with a Q&A following the film. Entry to the Epic Lounge is free.
Saturday’s events will also contain live musical performances, as well as the awards ceremony.

About Blood Slaughter Massacre
Ten years ago, Officers Fincher and Cobb were called out to investigate a noise complaint, and what they found was far worse; 24 people, murdered in cold blood. The murderer escaped, and the Havenwood Police Department covered it up. Barely escaping with his life, Fincher now a Detective, he is investigating the death of two young girls. After meeting some of the local teenagers, Fincher gets a tip from the Coroner, telling him that the Ripper has returned to finish what he started a decade ago. Fincher must find out how these girls are connected, and stop him before it is too late.

Blood Slaughter Massacre is homage to 80′s slasher movies. It was created in the vein of old slasher films, stylized as though the movie had been released in the 80′s, alongside the Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees films of the time. Featuring all the components that classic horror fans love, the film runs the horror gamut; A girl in the woods, the girl in the shower, the babysitter, the girl with her boyfriend, the drunken detective, the inept police department, the creepy old man with a warning, the one character who seems to know too much, and an iconic killer in a mask, The Ripper. Topping it off with a classic 80′s soundtrack, this one will leave you feeling nostalgic.

About Mass Grave Pictures
Mass Grave Pictures is a NYC based indie film production crew, Blood Slaughter Massacre is their first feature length release. In-between writing and producing their own scripts, they keep busy by working with other film crews in the NY/NJ area. Mary Doe

An endless trek across the scorched desert and the insignificant form that is Mary Doe, has exhausted all life within her. Rescued from death's door, she finds herself abandoned with five men, in the strange decommissioned government biological weapons facility of SAN EDEN.

A bullet wound to the chest, her only link to the past.

A toxin has been unleashed and the flesh hungry Mutants hold everyone captive. Time is running out. Mary must battle for survival as the Mutants breach the bunker walls.

Lost, with no memory of who she is, Mary must unravel her troubled past and find a reason to want to live. But the secrets the bunker has buried for so long, may imprison her there forever.

Who is Mary Doe? Why is she so important to this harsh, apocalyptic world?

“ The make-up effects and the thrill of a new and different Zombie film fascinates everyone. Horror fans are passionate about the genre and want to know what we are creating and what our take is on the material. The visuals are strong and they generate immediate interest and dialogue with media and fans.

But the heart of Mary Doe lies with our heroine and her story.

The plot delves into universal themes of being LOST and feeling displaced in the world. It echoes the tragedy and horror of WAR - the psychological crippling of individuals and the annihilation of societies.

Mary Doe has the potential to establish a new and exciting mythology within the Zombie genre culture."

Writer/Director

BLOOD & STONE – A Lullaby For Elizabeth Bathory

BLOOD & STONE – A Lullaby For Elizabeth Bathory
London Horror Festival
19.30, 30th. October 2013, Etcetera Theatre, 265 Camden High Street
London NW1 7BU (Above Oxford Arms pub), Camden (Tickets £10)

1610: Hungary’s real life ‘vampire’ countess is imprisoned in her castle, the most prolific serial killer in history. But at this year’s London Horror Festival, storyteller Marty Ross is going to set her free….

It’s one of history’s great horror stories – the Countess who bathed in blood to preserve her beauty. It has inspired horror films from Hammer’s ‘Countess Dracula’ to recent efforts starring Julie Delpy and Anna Friel. Those accounts have focused upon the Countess’ gory heyday, but the emphasis in Marty Ross’ storytelling show is on the aftermath… the ageing Countess punished by being locked for years in a lightless chamber in her castle, her hunger fierce as ever. Blood And Stone imagines a young maid listening to the Countess’ protestations of innocence - and being lured into unlocking the door of the cell….

Those who saw storyteller Marty Ross’ performances at last year’s London Horror Festival, or at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe, will know his storyteller’s ability to shape-shift through the forms and voices of a myriad of strange characters, male and female. Well established as a playwright, particularly with dark drama for BBC radio (Ghost Zone, Catch My Breath, Darker Side Of The Border, this month’s Lady Macbeth Of Mtsensk), plus Doctor Who & award-nominated Dark Shadows audio drama– as well as the audio drama version of Blood And Stone, nominated for a 2012 Rondo Award (horror fandom’s Oscars) - as a storyteller he is a whole dramatis personae in himself, a key figure in the current revival of this oldest – and yet suddenly most modern - of theatrical forms. As Broadway Baby said of his show 21st. Century Poe (also at the London Horror Festival on Halloween), “Ross is a master craftsman who never turns down the pressure, painting vile pictures and weaving a grotesque spell over his listeners… Certain images were so repulsive that people in the front row were noticeably squirming”. Using not just powerful words, but mime and gesture indebted to the likes of German Expressionism, Ross’ storytelling is more Theatre Of Cruelty than Book At Bedtime, creating vivid on-stage images, even as he projects more scarifying images still into the audience’s imaginations… which is where the really scary stuff  always happens….

Reviews for Ross’ storytelling at the Edinburgh Fringe:

“Insanely good storytelling… a master craftsman who never turns down the pressure… violently impressive….” – Broadway Baby *****

“Ross has a great aptitude for suspense and terror… chilling.” – The Scotsman

“Visceral. A compelling narrator and onstage presence. … left you thinking as well as reeling… theatre that kept you on edge… an immensely entertaining ride that scared and shocked in equal measure – a fair ground ghost ride for the 21st Century….” – Fringe Review

Reign of the Damned

Reign of the Damned is an animated short film trilogy set during the rise of a supernatural zombie epidemic in a late 1800s era New Orleans brothel with each of the characters representing the 22 tarot cards of the Major Arcana.  Each installment will be approximately 15 minutes long.  Other than the addition of a zombie uprising, Reign of the Damned will be a historically and geographically accurate representation of New Orleans and its many social problems at the time.

Reign of the Damned will be my final project before graduation and will also serve as part of my demo reel as I prepare to enter the job market.  The script, several character designs and set designs are nearly complete and ready for story-boarding.  However, a lot of what I'll be able to do past that point depends on the equipment I have available.

Please click the pic, and help make this short film trilogy happen!

Of course there are some awesome perks available in return for your pledge to this project!
