ENSLAVEMENT

"ENSLAVEMENT" is a contemporary supernatural horror-thriller about a troubled high school student who gets hypnotized by a dangerous Goth girl into sacrificing humans for her Goddess-worshiping cult.  It is a cross between "THE CRAFT" and "RED DRAGON".

The screenplay for “ENSLAVEMENT” was written by Dexter E. Williams, who got his inspiration from three performances: Fairuza Balk in "THE CRAFT", Kim Director in "BOOK OF SHADOWS: BLAIR WITCH 2", and Dakota Fanning in "THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON".

Mystical Sounds Productions, a management/production company based in Montreal, Canada, optioned the script.  The movie should start filming early in 2015, and will hopefully debut in October. Faith Rayah has been cast as the main antagonist in the movie, and will be one of the producers as well.

More information about “ENSLAVEMENT” will be coming soon!

KATUNAR - The first horror feature made in Kosovo

Director Dion Ventress risks travels to Kosovo, to bring you the historic first ever horror movie to be shot in the country, KATUNAR (the word is an Albanian slang which in English means “Hillbilly”or “Villager”.

Kosovo might be known for war and strife, but Ventress plans to change the just over 5 year old country with an Albanian/English feature film which will have the Republic of Kosovo known more for presenting a popcorn thriller, than Europe’s poorest country with a 45% unemployment rate.

KATUNAR (ka-toon-ar) is the first horror feature to be made in Kosovo.  Canadian director Dion Ventress brings to the screen a small town suspense thriller.

After finding out of the passing of her father, Adelina returns back to Kosovo and finds she’s inherited her father’s home in Kaçanik.  On her return, she not only deals with paranormal activity in the home, doors that don’t open, and a mysterious legend of people living in caves since the war in a cliff on the edge of town.  Once people start disappearing, Adelina has to figure out what is real and what is myth.

From the Director:

“My name is Dion Ventress and have worked in film and television production in Canada for over two decades.  In the television aspect of my career, I have worked from home shopping, to Canadian network news, to sports, and also launching the first streaming superstation at a time when the only things that were being streamed was WORLD OF WARCRAFT and religious sermons. Television forced me to work on tight budgets and timelines, which translated into my own productions (music videos and home video documentaries). Having one of Canada's most eclectic private film archives (of 16mm, 8mm, and 35mm), this also had taken me to four different countries, and involved with helping bring other features into the Toronto film marketplace including the only 35mm 3-D polarized feature from the 90's to Canadian audiences.

Having a taste for global music, I started being introduced to Albanian pop, and ended up going to Kosovo in 2008 with profits I had made from a successful film tour of Finland.

Through meeting various people in Kosovo's media industry, I was impressed with the talent in the country, and technically what could be pulled off.  I was asked by a company years later to work on a script for an action film.  Sadly the company folded, and I returned last year to investigate how possible it was to do a feature film in the country.  Technically, could it be possible?

Indeed it was as the same kind of equipment was in the country, however primarily with a focus on commercials, music videos and local productions.

Spending lots of my own capital, within a 12 month period, I established our headquarters in the country and made alliances with the country's best production houses in order to not only make a feature film, but to make something that would and could be seen for a worldwide audience.

On top of it, the country is in desperate need of jobs.  Kosovo is one of the poorest countries in Europe, and close to a 45% unemployment rate.

Your contribution not only goes towards making the first horror film for the country, but it also will provide employment.  I have seen how investment in my own country's film industry (Canada) has helped make us a worldwide force in feature film production.  My belief is Kosovo has the talent and equipment to have the same output.

How often are we able to say we are involved with history, or touching the lives of the people in a country by turning out a small budget film?

YOU CAN - And that's we need your help!”

HE SEES YOU: A free holiday horror flick!

“Let’s make a horror movie this weekend!”

That’s basically how HE SEES YOU… the new short film from Blair Downey and Michael Hickey happened. The duo, fresh off the success of THE CALMING (which won Best Film and Scariest Film at the Nickel Independent Film Festival’s 48 Hour Horror Challenge), decided to take the same approach to their next film.

“There was no reason not to” says Downey “We proved we could make a good short film with no time and less money when we made THE CALMING.”

“There was a bit more prep this time around, which was nice” adds Hickey. “We were able to bring in some elements like our Santa suit and the ‘Christmas Tales’ book. We knew what we were doing a couple weeks out as opposed to the night before.”

The decision to make a holiday film was simply to give themselves more pressure.

“We figured planning a Christmas movie would make sure we stick to the deadline” laughs Downey, the man behind the story, “and what is creepier than those frigging elves?”

Downey is, of course, referring to the kneehugger elves that have taken over social media feeds the last number of Christmases.  The two planned the no-budget short around the lore of the scout elves reporting naughty behavior to Santa Claus.

The pair have enlisted comedian Matt Wright to co-star with Victoria Holmes (The Calming). Patricia Andrews, Clare Power-Maunder, and Sandy Morris round out the cast with Bruce Brenton providing the sinister narration.

The film was shot over December 13-14, 2014 and edited in roughly the same amount of time, all for a three week release.

“We’re hauling it off the internet on Old Christmas Day (January 6, 2015). We’ll all be done with Christmas by then” assures Hickey. “But it will probably be back next year, and who knows, the ‘Christmas Tales’ book is pretty thick, maybe there’ll be a new chapter to go with it.”

HE SEES YOU…’s web-only release runs December 18, 2014 – January 6, 2015. The film is available at https://vimeo.com/114799953 and http://facebook.com/heseesyoufilm. You can follow updates on the film @heseesyoufilm on Twitter and Instagram.

Slasher film genre is resurrected in Sin

A murderous Archangel is on the loose in Sin, a modern slasher film being produced by Nathan Seals Productions with help from horror genre fans.

Sin is a slasher horror film that will slice, chop, and burn its way into your mind. The story follows a sheriff who is trying to uncover the murder of a young woman in a small farm town, only to discover that the town is hiding a terrifying secret. This is a town driven by religion, where a woman is struggling to return home and a murderous priest is seeking to cleanse the world of evil.

“I want to make a modern slasher, like those 80's slasher movies,” said writer and director Nathan Seals. “I'm in love with this particular type of film and I consider Sin to be my loving addition to the genre.”

Filming will take place in several locations in Indiana, including the abandoned City Methodist Church in Gary, Ind., where scenes from Nightmare on Elm Street were filmed. A lot of the costuming, gore, and makeup have been collected, but additional funds are needed to begin filming in early February.

To raise these funds, Nathan Seals Productions asks fans to contribute to the Indiegogo campaign, which launches on Dec. 11 and runs until Jan. 6.

The Starblood Trilogy

"Starblood is an exciting and gripping novel that you won't want to put down."

"I give this Five Stars...only because that's the limit. Do yourself a literary favor and get this novel. You won't regret it."

"A very griping read from start to finishing. I just couldn't put this book down. It had so much detail and was written fantastically."

In a seedy Goth club, a beautiful woman dances, waiting to be set free. Along an unlit street, another woman stumbles, fleeing her pursuer. In a darkened room, a man speaks to demons. Lust, obsession, terror and humiliation storm into the lives of Star and Satori, proving the age-old maxim – be careful what you wish for. Starblood, the debut novel by Carmilla Voiez, is a tale of magic and horror. Blinded by love, Satori, a young magician, attempts a spell that goes horribly wrong, resulting in the demon Lilith returning to Earth. Satori knows he must send Lilith back. The dark goddess brimming with power makes it her mission to wreak havoc on Satori's life by ensnaring Star, the woman he loves, and her friends in a web of chaos and deceit. ‘Carmilla Voiez makes Clive Barker look like Stephanie Meyer.’ Jef Withonef, Houston Press.

And then check out book 2…

Satori is caught between two worlds. There is something he needs in one, but the other keeps drawing him back. However, he is in love and he isn’t going to let a little thing like death get in his way. To reach his goal, he must face unimaginable horrors, not least of which is his true self. Star’s tortured and broken body awaits Satori, but does she really need him to save her? His rival, a rage-filled young woman, grows more powerful and becomes as twisted as the ribbons in her hair while the demon, Lilith, draws each of them inexorably towards her. Who will survive the coming battle? Full of sex and magic, “Psychonaut” is an exploration into the human psyche and the second book in Voiez’s “Starblood” trilogy. "Carmilla Voiez is more of a singer than a writer. She tells her compelling story in a hypnotic, distinctive voice that brings her eerie world vividly to life." Graham Masterton “Psychonaut is a book of mad impulses, inner vision, sadism, escape and belief. You feel uncomfortable reading it, like Alex strapped to the chair in Clockwork Orange being taught to feel sick at atrocity. Rather than leave us crippled by response, though, Psychonaut bears you through the hurt towards the only paradise we can be assured of...a love past fault.” Jef Withonef, Houston Press.

Finish off the series with book 3…

To an unholy trinity, a son of darkness is born. From the opening paragraphs of this dramatic conclusion to Carmilla Voiez's Starblood trilogy, murder, magic and obsession tear the heroes from the bliss they deserve. Star and Satori are being hunted; something is playing with their lives. In a game of revenge, lovers and friends are moved around a cosmic chess board. Death and madness are the final penalties for defeat. The divine and the urbane mix seamlessly. It is impossible to judge whether the self-destructive human psyche or obsessed demon-child is the more dangerous force. Star found her power in another world, but will that be enough to save them? Sex, horror, magic and madness, what else would you expect from this master of erotic horror? "Carmilla Voiez makes Clive Barker look like Stephanie Meyer." Jef Withonef, Houston Press. "Carmilla Voiez is more of a singer than a writer. She tells her compelling story in a hypnotic, distinctive voice that brings her eerie world vividly to life." Graham Masterton
