Joe R. Lansdale’s CHRISTMAS WITH THE DEAD hits DVD

New York (July 25th, 2013) –  Joe R. Lansdale's CHRISTMAS WITH THE DEAD is now available on DVD!

The creator of BUBBA HO-TEP is back with another heart tugging creature feature. CHRISTMAS WITH THE DEAD tells the tale of Calvin,  who sets out to right his wrongs and fulfill a promise to his wife, making it the best Christmas ever for his family!  If only it weren't June and the majority of the population, including his wife and daughter, hadn't been turned into flesh-eating snappers by a mysterious atmospheric phenomenon, he'd be in pretty good shape. Driven by guilt in a race against the apocalyptic clock, Calvin teams up with G.M., a wily ex-garbage man turned undead slayer, as together they attempt to deck the halls during the most magical time of the year. It's Christmas in June. And snappers be damned. The lights and decorations are going up.

From the brilliantly twisted mind of mojo story teller Joe R. Lansdale comes CHRISTMAS WITH THE DEAD, starring Damian Maffei (CLOSED FOR THE SEASON), Brad Maule (GENERAL HOSPITAL), and Chet Williamson.

FATAL PICTURES in association with RED SNEAKERS MEDIA presents “HEIR”

The final short film from FATAL PICTURES

From Richard Powell and Zach Green’s Fatal Pictures, the company that brought you the critically acclaimed, award winning horror shorts WORM and FAMILIAR, comes their new and final short film “HEIR”, a touching tale of father and son. Starring the Emmy award winning Bill Oberst Jr. (ABRAHAM LINCOLN VS.
ZOMBIES, TAKE THIS LOLLIPOP, CHILDREN OF SORROW) and Robert Nolan (SICK, WORM, FAMILIAR).

Synopsis:

After connecting with a stranger of similar interests online, family man Gordon and his son Paul, embark on an ill-fated road trip in which Gordon aims to indulge in a secret passion. Before the day ends a horrible truth will be uncovered and a harsh lesson will be learned.

Combining the best and brightest of our previous film, FAMILIAR, with new and accomplished collaborators (BILL OBERST JR, MARC ROUSSEL and RON
BASCH from Red Sneakers Media), HEIR is set to be a disturbing, practical FX driven horror short which examines one of societies darkest taboos in a way only Fatal Pictures can. HEIR stands to be our darkest, sharpest and most successful film to date!

Credits:

Written and Directed by Richard Powell
Produced by Zach Green, Marc Roussel, Ron Basch and Richard Powell
Produced in association with Red Sneakers Media (REMOTE & THE SWEETEST HIPPOPOTAMUS - both Director’s Guild of Canada nominees for Best Short
Film)
Associate Producer Heather Wixson (Founder CINEMAYHEM FILM FESTIVAL, Journalist DREAD CENTRAL)
Special Effects by The Butcher Shop (FAMILIAR, DEVIL’S NIGHT)
Cinematography by Michael Davidson (SICK, FAMILIAR, BERKSHIRE COUNTY)
Editing by John Nicholls (SEX AFTER KIDS, THE SWEETEST HIPPOPOTAMUS)
Music & Sound Design by Bernie Greenspoon (CONSUMPTION, WORM, FAMILIAR)

Quotes:

Unlike many films seeking the support of filmmakers and film lovers across the various crowd-funding platforms, we felt it appropriate to seek out and obtain some feedback and insights on the HEIR screenplay first in order to reassure potential supporters that we have the goods! Below are a few of the supportive and enthusiastic comments from a cross-section of the horror community including critics, festival directors, distributors and cult horror actor Bill Oberst Jr. himself.

"HEIR promises to deliver a disgusting dose of Lovecraftian body-horror that will make you squirm in more ways than one!"
- Jason Thorson, (Editor-in-chief, RavenousMonster.com)

"Considering Familiar, its last work, I would say that Fatal Pictures will definitely bring us, with Heir, a must-see short film. Graphically shocking and original with its body modifications, i would bet it'll be a great masterpiece. The horror in its very best form: disturbing and unique."
- Nicolas Tonsho, Fantaspoa International Film Festival

"A monstrous spin on an all-too-familiar tale of bad parenting."
- Alyse Wax, FEARnet

"With HEIR, Fatal Pictures have planned a stunning and memorable swansong. Set to delve into darker and more grotesque avenues than they have even ventured before, HEIR is certainly going to be another sucker punch from one of the most exciting independent studios out there. Be afraid, because you most definitely won’t be prepared."
- Colin McCracken, Zombie Hamster

"Powell is an unflinching examiner of the perversion of humanity that is born of our deepest fears, doubts, regrets and hidden hurts. He reminds us we walk among the wounded and mutated every day."
- Dave Pace Bonello, Fangoria

"Powell and his producing partner Zach Green are breaking new and horrific ground with HEIR. This project shows that the pair's festival monster FAMILIAR was no fluke; Powell and Green are in the vanguard of horror's new cinematic masters. HEIR is an honest-toGod, bonafide new notion of terror."
- Bill Oberst Jr.
.
Our goal is not only to create a chillingly memorable short film but to demonstrate what can be done after a film is funded. Our supporters will see the film they helped make in festivals around the world, in print and in distribution. That is our commitment, to produce one of the most successful crowd funded film projects to date. In need of further proof? You can check out our previous short film Familiar on FEARnet at http://www.fearnet.com/shorts/familiar.

Description:

In addition to several new and exciting collaborations, HEIR will also mark FATAL PICTURES’ introduction to crowd funding. The campaign to fund the hard costs of the production will be launched shortly. This process will allow the film community a unique insight and stake in this disturbing horror tale. The combination of talent and passion we have brought on board so far means we have a great chance to create something special, but we can't do it without the support of film lovers, filmmakers and daydreamers just like you!

Support comes in many shapes and forms, a "like" or "share" of our page means a lot! This is your chance to help contribute to what stands to be the final short film from FATAL PICTURES before we stage our feature film debut. This is also your chance to take advantage of some of these great, fresh new perks!

• The full rights to an original, unproduced short film script from Fatal Pictures will be up for grabs. Make it, expand it into a feature, do whatever you like with it, it's
yours! The script, entitled VESSEL, embodies everything that makes a Fatal Pictures short film what it is; complex characters, disturbing social commentary
and our signature blend of horror and drama. Matchflick.com describes VESSEL as "a unique blend of WHATEVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE and
FRANKENSTEIN".

• The original HEIR poster painting, signed by key members of the cast and crew. This is a one of a kind reward that one special supporter will claim.

• For fans of our previous film Familiar, we will be creating limited edition dvd/blurays, which will feature an extra special, exclusive bonus feature, which will
remain a secret until the discs ship. These limited editions will be the first physical release of Familiar for home use from Fatal Pictures, something that’s
been a long time coming!

• Continuing with the exclusives, two major props from our previous films will be up for grabs! From WORM, Geoffrey Dodd’s suitcase of horrors (hand crafted by
writer/director Richard Powell) and from FAMILIAR, the squid monster which John Dodd digs out from his leg! This unique piece of our filmmaking history was
created by the spectacular FX team The Butcher Shop (the same team on HEIR) and comes covered in dried blood and all!

These are just a few of our unique rewards, more to be announced shortly!

Podcast Covers ‘Spidergate’ from an Insider’s Perspective

New Light Shed on Lianne 'Spiderbaby' Plagiarism Scandal

One of the hosts of The Cutting Room Movie Podcast, David Pace, was caught up in the Lianne Spiderbaby (aka Quentin Tarantino's main squeeze) plagiarism scandal that recently shook the horror community and rattled journalistic cages everywhere. He recently brought to the show the writer who broke the story, Mike White (Impossible Funky Blog, The Projection Booth Podcast), and together they revealed to Dave's co-hosts, Tom Dettloff and Joe Christiana, a sordid tale of an American Dream gone corrupt. The aftermath of the scandal was felt full tilt at Fangoria, where both Dave and Spiderbaby brandished their pens, honorable and filthy, respectively, until the s hit the f.

Spiderbaby, who's now reverted to her original name, Lianne MacDougal, publicly admitted to plagiarizing large portions of her work for Fangoria and other publications whose credibility has now been called into question.

The Cutting Room Movie Podcast cut its teeth as a horror-centric movie talk show on The Horror Palace before expanding to a more general cinema program. The hosts strive to discuss movies in ways that are insightful, entertaining and deeply personal, writing original reviews that serve as introductions for their ensuing roundtable discussions. Guests have included cult-horror actor Michael Berryman (The Hills Have Eyes, Weird Science), Producer/Director Brian Yuzna (Re-Animator), Actress Halley Feiffer (The Squid and The Whale), academic and writer Dr. Kim Paffenroth (author of many film criticism books), and Actress Aarti Mann (The Big Bang Theory).

Ghost, Babes & Horror

On Friday, April the 13th, 2012 a horror host & his assistants bring their internet show into the woods. A haunted forest in the heart of a big city. Legend has it only one will escape to tell the tale.

They were not prepared for what lies ahead.

Starring Ghost The Keeper Of Night, Paula Nevin & Erica Furness

Music Written By Bill Rozar & Performed By Witches In Bikinis

This is what happens when a horror host makes a short film with no money.

No money, no problem. All you need to have is a love for horror, and Ghost, Paula, and Erica prove that in this terrific short horror comedy. The film also proves that you don’t always have to have a serial killer, ghost, or strange creature lurking in the forest. Sometimes the forest is somehow deadly enough. It’s full of “horror puns” that will have you shaking your head thinking, “Did they really just say that?” You will surely find a horror pun to your liking, so please enjoy the film…

About Ghost:

Ghost hosted a little show on www.horror-movies.ca covering all areas of horror. The show was also featured on Elvira's official website after interviewing her at a public appearance (a wet nightmare come true). You can watch most of the episodes on Ghost & Xtopher's youtube channel. www.youtube.com/zellepia

He's the winner of the reality show Halloween Superstar, a horror host, and a big fan of anything and everything that goes bump in the night (including his bed)!

Check out the official poster for BAD MILO, exclusively on Bloody Disgusting:

Magnolia Pictures will release BAD MILO on iTunes/On Demand August 29, 2013 and in theaters October 4, 2013.

Directed by Jacob Vaughn
Starring Ken Marino, Gillian Jacobs, Patrick Warburton, Mary Kay Place, Stephen Root and Peter Stormare

Duncan's (Ken Marino) life is a real pain in the ass. Tormented by a manipulative, crooked boss (Patrick Warburton), a nagging mother (Mary Kay Place), a deadbeat new age dad (Stephen Root), and a sweet, yet pressuring, wife (Gillian Jacobs), his mounting stress starts to trigger an insufferable gastrointestinal reaction.

Out of ideas and at the end of his rope, Duncan seeks the help of a hypnotherapist (Peter Stormare), who helps him discover the root of his unusual stomach pain: a pintsized demon living in his intestine that, triggered by excessive anxiety, forces its way out and slaughters the people who have angered him. Out of fear that his intestinal gremlin may target its wrath on the wrong person, Duncan attempts to befriend it, naming it Milo and indulging it to keep its seemingly insatiable appetite at bay.

Join Keepitclassic.comPopcornNights.com and our sponsor Mac's Comics for an exclusive screening of our favorite "Elm Street" sequel.  Originally released on August 19th, 1988, "A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: Dream Master" was a direct continuation of Part 3: Dream Warriors.  It was also the first big hit for director Renny Harlin, who went on to helm some truly awesome flicks like "Die Hard 2", "The Adventures of Ford Fairlane", "Cliffhanger", "The Long Kiss Goodnight", & "Deep Blue Sea". "Elm Street 4" may not be the scariest film in the franchise but to us, it's the most fun. We want to continue to bring awesome movies to Miami so support the cause.

Following up the previous Nightmare film, the dream demon Freddy Krueger is resurrected from his apparent demise, and rapidly tracks down and kills all three of the surviving Elm Street kids. However, Kristen (who has the ability to draw others into her dreams) wills her special ability to her friend Alice before her demise. Afterwords, Alice soon realizes that Freddy is taking advantage of that unknown power she now wields to pull a new group of teenage children into his foul domain.

AMC's 'The Walking Dead' to Return to Halloween Horror Nights 23

AMC’S ‘THE WALKING DEAD’ TO BE RESURRECTED AT UNIVERSAL STUDIOS HOLLYWOOD AND UNIVERSAL ORLANDO RESORT’S AWARD-WINNING ‘HALLOWEEN HORROR NIGHTS’ EVENTS FOR SECOND CONSECUTIVE YEAR

Season 3 of the Golden Globe-Nominated, Emmy-Award Winning series, ‘The Walking Dead,’
Sets the Stage for All-Original Horrifying Experiences on Both Coasts

UNIVERSAL CITY, Ca, ORLANDO, Fla., (July 25, 2013) — Fans with a voracious appetite for AMC’s “The Walking Dead” will have a chance to walk in the footsteps of human survivors when Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort debut all new terrifying mazes inspired by Season 3 of the critically-acclaimed, award-winning television series at this year’s Halloween Horror Nights events beginning September 20.

The eerily authentic and disturbingly real maze experiences will place “Halloween Horror Nights” guests at the heart of the show’s once impenetrable prison, the West Georgia Correctional Facility, now overrun by hordes of flesh-eating walkers.  The mazes at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando will send guests cowering through the walker-infested wilderness that surrounds the prison and into the seemingly utopian town of Woodbury where gruesome secrets are concealed.

Universal Orlando is also dedicating its entire “Halloween Horror Nights” street experience to “The Walking Dead” – making this the first time ever that all of the scare zones throughout the park will be themed after a hit television series.  Guests brave enough to walk the streets of Universal Studios Florida will encounter iconic scenes from all three seasons of the hit show - including the perilous city of Atlanta and Hershel’s dismal barn - and fleets of blood-thirsty walkers who are hungry for their next victim…

The Golden Globe®-nominated, Emmy® Award-winning series “The Walking Dead” is based on the graphic novel written by Robert Kirkman and published by Image Comics. The series tells the story of the months and years after a zombie apocalypse.  It follows a group of survivors, led by sheriff Rick Grimes, who travel in search of a safe and secure home. “The Walking Dead” is the first original cable series ever to end the broadcast TV season as the number-one show for adults 18-49.  AMC’s “The Walking Dead” returns for season 4 on Sunday, October 13 at 9pm ET/PT.

“What’s great about working with a property like ‘The Walking Dead’ is that each season presents new environments and characters for us to draw inspiration,” said John Murdy, Creative Director for Universal Studios Hollywood.  “With the prison as the main setting of Season 3, we seized this opportunity to recreate that very environment, down to the last detail, to be as genuine and authentic to the show as possible. Using movie-quality production value, our goal is to make guests feel as if they are mired in the world of blood-thirsty zombies, which is something you can only do at ‘Halloween Horror Nights.’”

“The goal is always to surround guests with authentic and terrifying experiences,” said Michael Aiello, Creative Development Director for Universal Orlando’s Entertainment team. “The combination of ‘The Walking Dead’ themed street experiences and the haunted maze will make it difficult for our guests to escape the hordes of ravenous walkers they’ve seen on their television.  The moment you pass through our gate, you become a survivor fighting for your life.”

Universal Studios’ “Halloween Horror Nights” events have a more than 20-year history of creating incredibly entertaining, horrifying Halloween experiences that are consistently rated the nation’s best.  The events on each coast feature highly-themed, disturbingly real, haunted mazes based on everything from films to nightmares -- and streets filled with hundreds of specially trained “scareactors.”
