Sudden Death Overtime

Meet Sprague Deacon - one of the toughest old-time hockey players who ever skated upon a rink of hand-poured ice. Sprague was born and raised and he expects to die here on the Northern Labrador coast. What he did not expect was a tour bus full of vampires - none of whom glitter in the least bit - to pull into his town and begin lowering the population level - one corpse at a time. Sprague and his three best friends - an over-the-hill never-say quit bush league hockey team from Northern Labrador go toe-to-tooth with a tour bus full of vampires in an immortal-stakes showdown of street hockey? For the answer - throw Paul Newman's Slapshot into a blender with Steven Niles 30 Days of Night and hit frappe!

Lets see what people are saying about this e-Book:

Here’s what Gord Rollo, Canadian horror author, has to say about it.
“With Sudden Death Overtime, Vernon perfectly captures the dark heart of a Canadian Winter and the lifetime passion surrounding the game of hockey. He takes a group of old friends who never backed down from a fight on the ice when they were younger and still refuse to do so even when they’re old enough to know better. Toss on the rink some memorable characters, truly great dialogue, a bus load of nasty vampires, and a shocking surprise ending that you won’t  see coming and you’ve got yourself a story that’s sure to be a winner.” – Gord Rollo

Famous Monsters of Filmland likewise reviewed the e-book – “Steve Vernon gets it right. “Sudden Death Overtime” hit all the right notes with me. A wonderful cast of characters, great dialogue between the characters and an evil bus full of vicious vampires.”

Melissa from Tennessee had this to say in her Amazon.com review – “Steve Vernon did a wonderful job of crafting an original vampire story. His ability to weave a story with a flow that is virtually flawless is a testament to how good a storyteller he is. I loved the characters and their personable dialogue and was able to plant myself easily in Labrador.”

Horror and hockey, sounds cool to me! It even includes a bonus time traveling hockey tale, "Time Out." You can get the e-Book today at:

“Cast announced for Zombie Plantation!”

Huze Media Group is pleased to announce Jake McLaughlin, star of NBC’s Frontier pilot, has joined the cast of Zombie Plantation. McLaughlin (Oliver Stone’s Savages, In the Valley of Elah and Crash) will star as Mike Stone. Mike became the default leader of a group of survivors at the age of nine following his father's death and has earned their respect and gratitude over the past twenty years. Together with his wife, Summer, he has carved out a life for their son and every other resident of Stone Compound.

Genre fans are familiar with multiple award winning actor Gerald Webb (Zombie Apocalypse, Law and Order Los Angeles, Battle of Los Angeles, Air Collision ) who also stars as Lee, a dedicated family man whose quick wit is only matched by his quicker temper.

Sean Huze (The Next Three Days, Green Zone, In the Valley of Elah) rounds out the starring cast as Andy, Mike’s right hand man who wrestles with loneliness in this post apocalyptic world.

Synopsis: More than a quarter century has passed since humanity lost the war to the undead. A ragged group of families have managed to survive within the walls of Stone Compound, a make shift safe-haven for survivors led by Mike Stone (Jake McLaughlin). This growing community was never meant to be permanent, and is now on the verge of collapse. Resources are low and for the first time in over two decades, Mike leads a team to scavenge beyond the protection of the compound. He is joined by Lee (Gerald Webb) and Andy (Sean Huze). Unknowingly, they trespass on the property of Curtis Strong, the plantation boss of Rosewood. Strong has embraced the new world and the residents of Rosewood are slaves that live in fear of being fed to their late family and friends that have been turned into flesh-eating ghouls. Curtis senses they are not mere drifters and is eager to add to his group of unwilling subjects.  Through fear, torture and manipulation he tries to find out the location of Stone Compound.  Can Mike do what's necessary to save his people from becoming Curtis' slaves, or even worse, joining the ranks of the undead?

In the film’s first concept poster, Mike can be seen protecting his son while trying to make his way through the treachery of Strong’s Rosewood Plantation. As the undead rise, blood red runs through the grounds and sky symbolizing death looming in every shadow. Will the undead rule the day or does Rosewood Plantation hold more secrets than are revealed here? This previously unreleased, fear-inducing art beckons moviegoers to approach a world in chaos, where every step forward could be the last for Mike, his son, the families of Stone Compound, and maybe all of mankind.

Zombie Plantation was written by the critically acclaimed Sean Huze, whose recent efforts include penning the screenplay for The Tell Tale Heart starring Rose McGowan, the screenplay for The Wolf, and the stage play The Sand Storm.

Director: Sonny Marler.
Producers: Tom Bhramayana (Mysterious Island) and Matt Keith  (MutantsMysterious Island, The Tell Tale Heart)
Production start: Spring 2012 in St. Amant, Louisiana.

Controversial Horror Director Uwe Boll completes Profane Exhibit segment

Harbinger International Films has great news concerning our film The Profane Exhibit, an anthology of 13 international short films of extreme horror, produced by David Bond and Manda Manuel.

Director Uwe Boll has completed his contribution to the film, the creepy and subversive short Basement, starring Caroline Williams (Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2), Tara Cardinal and horror icon Clint Howard. David L Tamarin, General Counselor of Harbinger, attended the shoot and expressed his concern that the material might be too strong for mass consumption. "The film is about evil that is absolutely real. There are no zombies, and the only monster is of the human variety. The film takes you to a very dark place. Viewers need to prepare themselves for this one."

Uwe Boll's film is about the corruption of a family in a world where things are not always what they appear to be. A world where monsters parade as family men and home is another word for hell. In an ideal suburban home which could best be described as boring and ordinary a horrible secret exists deep in the basement. Clint Howard and Caroline Williams play a married couple with an ordinary life- except for the fact that they keep their starving and abused daughter in a locked basement room that she has not left in years. In this perverse nightmare scenario that is unfortunately based on fact, all the young daughter (Tara Cardinal) wants to do is go outside and into the sun. Instead she must endure daily cruelties. This is a tale of sexual depravity and psychological torture, and a subversive look at the depraved realities of suburban life. Uwe Boll, director of films such as Stoic, Rampage, Seed, Postal, Attack on Darfur, and more, has once again turned his eye on the nature of evil and corruption.

Other directors for the film include Richard Stanley, Marian Dora, Yoshihiro Nishimura, Sergio Stivaletti,  Ryan Nicholson, Michael Todd Schneider, and Andrey Iskanov. Many more to still be announced.

The End of the World Playlist

The world as we knew it had ended. Deep in the mountains of the west coast, six men survived. In the town of River’s Bend, these six friends continued on with their lives as zombies inherited the Earth. As they navigated the world that had been left behind, the soundtrack of life played on.

“The End of the World Playlist" is getting some great reviews, including these reviews that mention some pretty famous people:

“If you think you might like to take a break from the real world and enjoy some quick zombie/end-of-the-world fun, you would be wise to check out this little novella from Dan O'Brien. This is my first read by this author but I'll definitely be looking for more… I swear there were times when he was channeling Stephen King, one of the few to master the novella form. The very title reminded me of King's work and the dialog within seemed straight from King's own mind.”

“Finessed by O'Brien's stylized, clean, well-edited writing `The End' becomes a dystopian Tarrantino automatic rifle shoot 'em up! And I mean that as a compliment! You'll cringe, You'll squeal like a little girl, You'll laugh. Good Characters will die...and that's just the Beginning ... of `The End'.”

Find out why these reviews mentioned the names King, and Tarrantino by reading the novel today. It is available at:

Get to know author Dan O’Brien:

"Dan O'Brien is an editor, writer, and screenwriter. He currently attends a California university and is pursuing a graduate degree in psychology. He has written over 10 novels, several screenplays, and is working on a graphic novel. A philosopher and martial artist, his days are filled with writing and training. He is an eclectic writer who dabbles in many genres, though most have sweeping elements of scientific inquiry and reason. Most of the novels fall into the categories of science fiction and fantasy, though there is something for everyone. Romance, horror, young adult, and even drama have found their way from his mind to paper."

This is where Black Flag TV stands out! Our mission is to provide these movies with the fitting exposure they so clearly deserve!

Harvest Tide Releases Behind the Scenes Look At Microcinema

MASSACHUSETTS (March 8, 2012) – Massachusetts-based Harvest Tide Productions releases "Making of Microcinema,"  a behind the scenes look at the making of the cult horror short and Rondo Hatton Award nominee, "Microcinema," including interviews with the cast and crew. Watch this exclusive video here -

“Microcinema” quickly became a cult favorite and wowed critics and audiences last year at several horror film festivals and screenings within the few short months of its release. Screenings in 2011 included the 1st Annual Danish Horror Film Festival: THE TURBINE at Spinderihallerne, Vejle, Denmark; All Things Horror Shudder Fest at the Somerville Theater in Somerville, MA; Short Horror Films at AS220 in Providence, RI; the Massachusetts Independent Film Festival; and before Canadian horror film fans at Fright Night Theater presents: ABSENTIA & Microcinema at the Staircase Cafe Theater in Hamilton, Ontario.

Starring Alex Lewis and Aurora Grabill, “Microcinema” is the story of Peter Martell, a highly educated well-to-do young man with too much free time on his hands. He spends it watching snuff films. One day he makes the bold decision to cross the line from observer to participant, aspiring to bring a philosophical element to his own kind of snuff films. Ready to go to work, he tracks his first victim into a haunted New England wood, where the boundary between participant and observer takes a different turn.

"Microcinema” is now available on the film’s website
www.watchmicrocinema.com for under .99 cents. The best horror for under a dollar.

**********

What the critics are saying about “Microcinema”

Chris Conduit of The Conduit Speaks, www.theconduitspeaks.com put "Microcinema" as the best horror short of the year giving it his Conduit Award.

Danielle Holman writing for Truly Disturbing Horror, www.trulydisturbing.com listed "Microcinema" as one of the five best horror films saying, "Skip Shea’s seven minute short film is deserving in the ranks of the big films as it’s able to accomplish more in less than ten minutes than an hour and a half feature length film." In her Bleeding Dead blog, http://bleedingdeadfilmreviews.blogspot.com/ she called "Microcinema.... One of the most important horror films in our time."

"The film is brave and unrelenting. It is a breath of fresh air to a lot of the common horror tricks that are being trotted out time and again." -Alexandra West, Scare Tactics Blog. http://scare-tactic.blogspot.com/2011/12/micromanaging-skip-sheas-microcinema.html

"In what stands out as a giddy teenager spitting in the face of authority, Harvest Tide Productions and Uxbridge, MA’s own Skip Shea have crafted a short film that solidly runs all the lines of horror while establishing its own unique and disturbing storyline that scares (pun intended) away from the genre’s usual archaic tropes." - Josh Lyford, Pulse Magazine. http://www.thepulsemag.com/wordpress/2012/03/03-12-pulseflicks-2

Plus:

"You will not be expecting to see the events that unfold in this shocking short film." - The Horror Spot

"The script itself deserves kudos for completely drawing your attention to the one aspect we would expect every horror film to contain and then suddenly shocks you with an element you rarely see in this genre."  The Scariest Movies Online

"I figured I was in for one of three things:  a really solid work, a bite size film that left me feeling nothing, or one of those that makes me want to substitute rat poison for the salt on my dinner table.  Those are the three categories all art falls into for me, always.  Yet, when it was all said and done, Shea's vignette carved a whole new icky slot out just for itself. 9 out of 10 Stars" - The Conduit Speaks

"Brilliant. 8.5 out of 10 Stars" - The Gruesome Hurtzogg Horror Movie Review Podcast.

"4 out of 5 Stars" Char Hardin

"What I find particularly interesting about Microcinema is its plot and how it seems to blend together torture, voyeurism, and a lot of other really weird horrific topics like snuff films." - Horror Society

"Microcinema Doesn't Disappoint" - Victor Infante, The Worcester Telergram & Gazette

"The new indie horror romp Microcinema and it is a doozy." - Truly Disturbing Horror

"Interesting short that starts as your usual slasher/serial killer fare before taking a wicked little turn." Shaun Sjolin Cenobiteme Blog
