Today’s Sunday Scares feature is another example of
what fans can do for something they love…
ISLAND
OF THE BLIND DEAD is a fan made faux feature film trailer which pays homage to
Tombs of the Blind Dead (1972).
The short is the brain child of film makers Emma Dark (Dark Morte) and
Merlyn Roberts. Both Emma and Merlyn are huge horror and Tombs of the Blind
Dead fans.
This
homage was made whilst holidaying in St. George South, Corfu. It came as a last
minute brain wave after several days trapped inside during storms and was never
intended to have high production values, as such it does look rather the part
though! A huge thanks to the local amateur dramatics society who
enthusiastically welcomed the idea and did a fantastic job of bringing their
characters to life on screen.
Island of the Blind Dead imagines there may have been a fifth film in
the series, which then became lost, the trailer subsequently recovered and
restored some years later.
