Darin Read signed to World of Hurt

Award-winning director Darin Read to helm adaptation of “I Remember Me” forTHOMAS TESSIER’S WORLD OF HURT anthology

NEW YORK, NY, March 11, 2014— Producer, director, and writer Darin Read is set to adapt Thomas Tessier’s short story “I Remember Me” from his Ghost Music (Cemetery Dance Publications) collection. Read is the third of five directors signed to THOMAS TESSIER’S WORLD OF HURT project.

“‘I Remember Me’ is stunning,” Read said. “It’s one of the most harrowing, haunting, beautiful short stories I’ve read in a long, long time. There’s so much to mine here to bring a first class short to the screen. I’m honored and excited to work on something of this caliber.”

In “I Remember Me,” a worldwide plague causes everyone to forget who they are and where they live. When Glen Barnes’ identity papers are stolen from him, he becomes whoever someone says he is…but who is he when he finds himself alone? Read will write and direct the Tessier story in 2014.

Los Angeles-based Read produced, wrote and directed a 35mm short film based on Manly Wade Wellman’s classic story, “Up Under the Roof.” Rue Morgue Magazine called it “a compelling take on the coming of age story that depicts what it truly means to face fears.” 28 Days Later praised the film as providing an “excellent examination of the universality of fears… prepare for Read's unique take on the timeless ghost stories of the past.” He has post-supervised features for New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. and was executive producer on HAUNTING MELISSA, the first horror feature designed specifically as an app.
