Rabid Love

It’s the summer of 1984 when a group of recent college grads embark on one last trip to a cabin in the woods before going their separate ways into adult life. When one of them is infected with a strange virus, the friends are slowly ripped apart (literally and figuratively) and must compete with love triangles, conflicting personalities, nature, and an unknown killer lurking in the woods that prevents their escape back to civilization.

Stars: Hayley Derryberry, Jessica Sonneborn, Brandon Stacy, Josh Hammond, Hannah Landberg, Paul J. Porter, Brian L. Reece, Megan Hensley, Noel Thurman, Chris Bylsma, Joe Backer, Ali Lofquist, and Natalie Turner.

Here’s a little more about the film from Writer/Producer/Director Paul J. Porter:

CliToday’s horror films have lost the charm and fun of the classics from my favorite period for the films- the late 70’s and early 80’s.  Films like ‘An American Werewolf in London’, ‘Jaws’, ‘The Howling’, and ‘Friday the 13th’ were among the first horror films I ever saw and they left a lasting impression of what I think constitutes a good one.

‘Rabid Love’ takes place in 1984 and is a rejuvenation of these classic films. 1984 in America was a time of prosperity and light, despite the dwindling Cold War. As a young child in the 80’s, the time period holds a special place in my mind as a mixture of dreams and memories.  The look and feel of the era comes through in the settings, props, wardrobe, and most importantly, the characters of the film.

‘Rabid Love’ uses some of the most recognizable characters and conventions of the genre to create familiarity, and then launches the genre in surprising and uncharted territory with a web of mystery and love triangles that are further complicated as the story progresses.

The style of ‘Rabid Love’ pulls heavily from the visual and thematic elements established in the films that influence it so much.  Effortlessly shifting between our young, happy campers and a darker world; the narrative immediately sets the tone as one of foreboding danger that will creates tension throughout the film.

The movie is currently in post-production so be on the look out for it soon!
