The Measurable Blood

Professor Brian Donaldson is a man on the run. When he discovers his trusty Australian Shepherd spooked, he is brought face-to-face with an eerie chapter of his past and the ghostly specter of a mad scientist that grew up around him.

With nowhere else to turn, Donaldson confides in a local police detective on a dark, winter’s night. The statement he gives offers a disquieting view into youthful ambition, madness, and a crooked spin on evolutionary science gone amiss.

About the author:

My name is Erick Mertz and I am a full time freelance professional writer capable of providing innovative content solutions.

I have worked in the creative and business writing fields for ten years, allowing me to bring both a wealth of experience along with a fresh perspective to every project.

My current writing jobs are focused specifically on organizational policies and procedures as well as business marketing material…

I attended the University of Oregon and graduated in 1998 with a Bachelors Degree in English/Comparative Literature and Communications. During my academic career I worked as a contributing writer to campus newspapers and magazines and as a DJ for 88.1 KWVA.

Prior to pursuing my writing career full time, I worked as a Case Manager for a national company serving community based adults with developmental disabilities and mental health challenges. That experience in the public sector was preceded by five years in business working in real estate and marketing new technology.

Currently, I live in Portland, Oregon with my wife, a dog named Boris, two cats and a backyard garden full of chickens. When I am not sitting at my desk writing, I am usually tending to one or all of those.
