The Curse of Ragdoll

In the late Eighteenth Century, nestled within a remote region of the Carpathian Mountains, punctuated by lush forests and quaint villages, something waits in the darkness, biding its time until it can exact bloody vengeance upon those who once violated it. That "thing" is Ragdoll, an inhuman creature created by the hand of man, yet possessing supernatural powers from beyond the grave. And her quest is both horrifying and heartbreaking: Composed of the remnants of an untold number of murdered women, Ragdoll's body retains the souls and divine essences of those whose lives were cut short, and she will stop at nothing to bring a gory, poetic end to each murderer of the women from whom she was constructed!

“This is simply put, a perfect introduction to the character of Ragdoll. The artwork is beyond drop dead GORE-geous… Visually stunning… Looks like it was torn from the pages of a Warren or Skywald book. This book just made my eyes drool.”

From the creator Mike Wolfer…

THE CURSE OF RAGDOLL is a 96-page, black and white graphic novel, written and illustrated by Mike Wolfer, lettered by Natalie Jane, with cover colors by Ceci de la Cruz. Vengeance from beyond the grave is the theme, as a supernatural, patchwork horror hunts down and exacts her revenge upon each killer responsible for the murders of the individual women from whom her body was sewn together. Set in the late 18thCentury, the settings, backgrounds, and characters should remind the reader of the films of Hammer Studios in the 1970s, while the gray-toned, black and white art is intentionally reminiscent of the great Warren Publications (EERIE, CREEPY, VAMPIRELLA) of the late ‘60s and early ‘70s.

The story itself began life in 1998, when it was first published in an adults-only anthology by Avatar Press titled RAW MEDIA QUARTERLY. Because of the adult nature of the publication, the very select audience, and the comic’s low print runs, very few ever saw or have even heard of RAGDOLL. It was my subsequent works on such titles as FRIDAY THE 13TH, NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD and LADY DEATH which helped me gain recognition in the comics field, so most of my current fans have no idea about what I consider one of my “lost gems.”
