World Premiere of Blood Creek Woodsman Set for Convention That Inspired It

World Premiere of Blood Creek Woodsman Set for Convention That Inspired It

"My buddies and I attended our first Crypticon Seattle horror convention in 2009," explains director Joe Sherlock, "and we met some great people including actors and actresses looking to do more horror work." Already a veteran of over 30 indie horror features and anthologies, Sherlock discussed the experience with his frequent collaborator, John Bowker (Tempe Video's Platoon of the Dead, The Evilmaker). "Not long after, John came to me and said he wanted to write a 'body count movie,' cast a bunch of folks we'd met at Crypticon Seattle and wanted me to direct and shoot it, sharing producing duties with him. I told him I was in!" So began a roller coaster ride of casting, shooting, fake blood, police cars, axes and chainsaws!

After a delay in post-production (Bowker was finishing up editing on Evil Rising, a previous Sherlock/Bowker collaboration), Sherlock teamed up with his Bloodsucking Redneck Vampires partner Michael Hegg last year to pull the bloody slasher together and now it is poised for its World Premiere at the 2013 Crypticon Seattle convention on Saturday, May 25.

"The World Premiere is at 11 p.m. Saturday night, so it's almost a midnight movie," Sherlock notes. "Actually I think Blood Creek Woodsman would play pretty well as a midnight movie. I am so happy that we are able to show the movie for the first time at the very convention that inspired it!"

Synopsis: The small Oregon town of Oak Creek was shaken to the core when one of it's respected residents, Bud Kindrick, went a crazed killing spree after discovering a terrible secret. Now, nearly a year later, the killings have started to happen once again. The town Sheriff, his estranged wife, his deputy and a reporter must get to the bottom of what's going on while the bodies pile up around them!

The cast includes Tom Stedham (Torment, Burn Notice), Michelle 'Ame' Mahoney (Platoon of the Dead, Twisted Fates), Rob Merickel (Bloodsucking Redneck Vampires), Bryn Kristi (Cupid, Evil Rising), Jeremiah Benjamin (James vs. Reality, Little Blue Pill), Robert J. Olin (Lake Noir, Underbelly), Maren McGuire (Stripperland, I Am Virgin) and Adam Paris as Bud Kindrick. Blood Creek Woodsman was written by John Bowker with special make-up effects by Rob Merickel, a score by Steve Sessions (Dead Clowns, At The House of Madness) and was directed and shot by Joe Sherlock.

Of Sherlocks' last feature, Twisted Fates (which screened at last year's Crypticon Seattle), aintitcoolnews.com said, "Every scene and every minute of TWISTED FATES oozes a love for all things horror." He is currently at the tail end of shooting for his latest horror feature, Drifter, with post-production planned for this summer. Sherlock will be featured in the upcoming documentary SOV: The True Independents (http://www.sovhorror.com).

"Drive-In Academy Award nominations for Joe Sherlock, the writer/director/composer/editor, for doing things the drive-in way." - Joe Bob Briggs on Sherlock's oddball sci-fi horror feature Odd Noggins.
