After humanity lost the war to the undead, civilization descended into chaos and anarchy leaving mankind to rewrite the rules of survival. Most survivors succumbed to starvation, disease, each other, and the undead. In rural Louisiana, there was a small group that banded together against the horrors of the outside world. Alex Stone established a safe haven for the survivors and it has prospered for nearly 20 years. Alex's son Mike has grown into his father's shoes as the leader of a growing, but struggling community. Resources have diminished and Mike decides to take a scouting team outside the protection of Stone Compound to scavenge. During their expedition they find themselves trespassing on Rosewood Plantation, the property of Curtis Strong, a powerful and charismatic man who, similar to Alex, established his own shelter from this post-apocalyptic world. His protection comes with a price: slavery. Curtis has embraced the new world and Mike soon discovers the slaves not only fear "Mr. Strong," but live with the prospect of a cruel and inhumane death: being fed to their late family and friends who are now flesh eating ghouls kept by Strong in "The Pit". Curtis' actions unveil a sick and demented man who has created heaven among everyone else's hell. Driven by his father's values and his strengthened resolve, Mike must save the residents of Stone Compound from falling victim to Curtis. Can Mike endure what's in store, or will he and his family perish to slavery or even worse, join the ranks of the living dead?
