TheHorrorShow.TV partners with Shortcuts to Hell

Short Cuts to Hell Shortlist to Stream at TheHorrorShow.TV

Shortcuts to Hell 2, the nationwide search for new filmmaking talent who are primed and ready to make their first horror feature film, is already up and running, with partners Horror Channel, FrightFest, Wildseed Studios and Movie Mogul who are now joined by VOD partner TheHorrorShow.TV, who will make the shortlisted films available to stream and download via its dedicated VOD hub for horror fans.

The winning filmmaker will have their film produced by Movie Mogul and Wildseed Studios, entering production early 2015, with a minimum cash production fund of £20,000. The completed feature film will receive UK digital distribution, its world premiere at Film4 FrightFest 2015, and a broadcast premiere on Horror Channel.

The jury panel, which includes Horror Channel’s Emily Booth, FrightFest’s Paul McEvoy, Rosie Fletcher acting editor Total Film Magazine, Jesse Cleverly of Wildseed Studios, Movie Mogul’s John Shackleton and film director Simon Rumley, will be looking for a highly driven individual with a burning desire to make their first feature film.

All entries will need to submit a 3-minute short film version of their full-length horror movie idea. Their submission must clearly demonstrate the core idea, premise, story and characters in narrative form. A shortlist of twenty-six finalists will then be invited to an interview where they will have the opportunity to pitch their feature film directly to the jury panel.

Three filmmakers will then go forward to this year’s FrightFest event at the Vue West End in London, and have their 3-minute films screened before the discerning FrightFest audience. Their work will be broadcast on Horror Channel throughout August and September, where the overall winner will be chosen by public vote.

The twenty-six finalists will also receive significant exposure via Horror Channel and a feature-length compilation set to debut at TheHorrorShow.TV

TheHorrorShow.TV's major domo David Hughes said, "The Shortcuts to Hell competition is already renowned as an exceptional crucible for genre filmmaking talent in the UK, and with this year's addition of the feature film incentive, it's bound to be the biggest incarnation of the competition yet. We're extremely excited that the twenty-six finalists – including, of course, the overall winner – will be able to show off their films through the kind of digital streaming and download release for which TheHorrorShow.TV is known."

Movie Mogul managing director John Shackleton added, "We’re thrilled to welcome TheHorrorShow.TV as an exciting Video On Demand and streaming partner to SCTHII. We can now ensure maximum exposure for the winning filmmakers, whilst offering film fans and those with a keen eye on new talent, further options on how, when and where to consume the tasty second volume of new horror offerings!”

Entries for the competition are already coming in, with judging due to take place through July and August in preparation for the final stage in the run-up to FrightFest, which takes place 21-25 August 2015.

A Measure of the Sin

Every childhood is normal... to the child that lives it. For Meredith that means an enchanted seclusion that is shattered when she is deprived of her mother. Desperate and alone, Meredith must join a household with other women and their children, a sinister man who controls every facet of her existence, and a vicious bear that only she can see.

Starring: Katie Groshong, Stephen Jackson, Allyce Wix, Cody Cheyenne, Starina Johnson, Dale Rainey, Novella Dean, Ryan Jackson, Jayden Morris, Kerrigan Butler, Jordan Nix, Bruce Rainey, David Willis

Directed by: Jeff Wedding

"It is haunting. Beautiful. Poetic. Artfully crafted. Original. Courageous. Unlike anything else I've seen. It's a psychological, emotionally captivating yet subtle kind of horror - you won't scream and spill your popcorn, but you will find this story working its way around in your head for weeks, months, maybe years after. It's compelling and it lingers, thoughtfully, well after the credits have rolled."

"I'd call it art/horror which is cool, cuz it makes you think at the same time it scares you. I can't say I've seen anything like this before, hopefully I will again."

"A Measure of the Sin is a surreal, brutal and stunning piece of film. Directed flawless. I can not say enough on how this film comes together in a clarity of emotions and action that becomes a whole part of the person watching. The photography and filming was extraordinarily vivid, vibrant, dark and touching. This movie knows what it wanted to do and it owned and created a piece of cinema that becomes a real inner part of the soul."

"Hauntingly beautiful, nightmarishly perfect."

Zombiefest by Eddie Jose Morales

A cool October morning tentatively fingered its way over the frigid landscape of Hicksville, New Hampshire. A heavy bank of clouds had blown in from the west as the sky turned to a grayish red color just like it did during the winter months before a snowstorm.

A white van drove past a sign displaying ‘Hicksville, 5 Miles’. Inside the vehicle, two men not wearing their seatbelts sat on the front seat. Peter Castillo was behind the wheel and his buddy Chester Milford sat in the passenger seat. Peter was 6’2”, muscular, dark skinned with shiny black eyes with short curly brown hair. Chester was much shorter at 5’1”, light skin, bald, and weighing almost two hundred pounds. He was mentally disable and most of the time acted like a naïve kid, which was fine with Peter as it amused him very much. Consequently, there was never a dull moment in their relationship as they truly appreciated each other’s company.

The men had been on the road for many hours from their trip up the east coast from Williamsburg, Virginia where they resided and have been employed as independent contractors working for Dr. Henry Baker of Baker Labs, Inc. for the past couple of years. They appreciated working for Dr. Baker because they were paid very well in spite of not doing much hard work whatsoever. Instead, they usually traveled back roads doing easy jobs, such as disposing dangerous toxic chemicals across the country into the outskirts of diverse unpopular small towns.

The chemicals being transported during this occasion were not of the ordinary kind. In fact, they were chemicals that had been used previously in lab experiments on stray cats. Initially, lab technicians who worked at Baker Labs would slay stray cats in vicious ways such as strangulation and electrocution. Then and there, they would inject the carcasses with toxic lab-made chemicals. As a result, the stray cats would come back to life but not as domesticated animals. In fact, most of the time they became carnivorous vicious animals attacking the staff on various occasions devouring them like a kid would chomp a juicy sweet watermelon on a hot summer day.

Disturbing Assembled Footage Film “Infliction” to be released on DVD, VOD, & Digital HD on Tuesday July 1st in the U.S. and Canada by Virgil Films & Entertainment

NEW YORK, NY (June 17, 2014) – Virgil Films & Entertainment announces the upcoming DVD, VOD, and Digital HD release of the controversial film “Infliction” on Tuesday July 1st, 2014 in the U.S. and Canada. “Working on ‘Infliction’ left me troubled and haunted,” says Jack Thomas Smith. “It left me thinking about people’s actions or lack thereof and the inevitable domino effect. We all walk our own path in life, which shapes and defines us. What happens to us today, good or bad, will affect generations to come.”

“Infliction” will be available on Netflix, Walmart.com, iTunes, Amazon, Best Buy, Barnes & Noble, CD Universe, Google Play, Vudu, Cinema Now, Vimeo OnDemand, and other online retailers.

Earlier this year, “Infliction” opened in select theaters across the country. Additional screenings have been scheduled this summer and fall due to demand in Washington, NJ; Pittsburgh, PA; NYC; Gettysburg, PA; and the Chiller Theatre Expo in Parsippany, NJ.

About Jack Thomas Smith:

Jack Thomas Smith made his feature film-directing debut with the psychological thriller “Disorder.” He was also the writer and producer of that film. “Disorder” was released on DVD by Universal/Vivendi and New Light Entertainment. It was released on Pay-Per-View and Video-On-Demand by Warner Brothers. Overseas, it screened at the Cannes Film Festival and the Raindance Film Festival in London. Curb Entertainment represented “Disorder” for foreign sales and secured distribution deals around the world.

Born in 1969 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Smith lived there until he was eight when his family relocated to a quiet island community in Michigan, which would later serve as the inspiration for his upcoming film “In the Dark.” He began to write at a very young age after reading the Stephen King novels “Salem’s Lot” and “The Shining.” By the time he was eleven, he had written a 300-page novel and a number of short stories.

Smith’s family moved to Sparta, New Jersey when he was a teenager. It was there in that middle-class town that he discovered the films of George A. Romero, Stanley Kubrick, Brian DePalma, and John Carpenter. Inspired to make movies, he wrote and directed a handful of short films that were shot on Super 8mm and starred his brother and friends in all of the roles.

As a young adult, Smith produced films for noted horror directors Ted Bohus and John Russo, co-creator of “Night of the Living Dead.” From that point on, it was only a matter of time for his growth as a filmmaker to expand.

Smith’s current project he calls “Infliction” is a dark and disturbing assembled footage film that documents two brothers’ 2011 murder spree in NC and the horrific truth behind their actions.

Smith’s production company, Fox Trail Productions, Inc., is currently developing the action/horror film “In the Dark”, the drama “Illegals”, and the comedy “Ties that Bind.”
