Welcome
to The Other Side of Horror! The latest project from Haunt of Horrors
Press we are excited to bring you the next evolution in our endeavor.
Looking around at all of the great magazines that exist in the market it is
easy to see that there is a niche that is being overlooked. While there
is plenty of discussion in the pages of all of our favorite magazines about
movies there isn’t a whole lot of column space dedicated to books, comics, art,
collectibles, or any of those other delicious things that we love to spend our
hard earned cash on. That world of all the other things in horror is
where we want to live, surrounded by our comics and collectible cards!
It
isn’t just something that we want to blog about though. We love the feel
of picking up the latest issue of Rue Morgue or Baltimore. There is
something about the tangible that speaks to us as collectors. There is
nothing quite as satisfying as saying, “Yeah I have the first thirty issues of
that.” So we wanted to do something more. A physical magazine.
So was born the idea behind The Other Side of Horror.
It
will be a place where you see some of the same kinds of things that you see on
the site, but with an expansion of focus. Not just reviews of comics, but
also music, books, art, even movies that are flying way under the radar.
It will also be a place where we can write at length about the genre that
we love, a place where we can take the time to discuss the complexities of
Hellblazer as a character, the latest Mars Attacks collection, or the horror
side of Joe R. Lansdale’s fiction. Finally it could be a place for a
little bit of fiction, because nothing breaks up news and serious discussion
like a great story.
Steve
Santiago has already been selected as the cover artist. Below is an example of
his work…
