Flashback Friday: "Songs In The Key of Murder" by MC Randumb and Jewish Dave

Welcome to Flashback Friday where we take a look at a past promotion!

Enjoy...

MC Randumb & Jewish Dave is what happens when you take its two creator's favorite things: gangsta rap, horror & cult b-movies, heavy metal imagery, video-games, sex, fast food and dogs, mix them all with hot sauce and turn the volume up to 11.

Originally an offshoot of the popular Las Vegas comedy-rap group, The Polar Bear MCs aka The Killa Korpse Gangstaz, MC Randumb & Jewish Dave managed to outlive the full crew. Even when the 8 member team was still actively performing, the duo was already taking time to record separate songs & perform shows. Jewish Dave (David Rosen) was always the leader of the group, as he not only was a writer & performer, but also the music maker and producer. MC Randumb (Trent Fewkes) was easily the standout performer of the Polar Bear MCs, so it would make sense that the two would work so great together.

Starting in early 2003, just months after Tha Polar Bear MCs first live show, MC Randumb & Jewish Dave became a fixture of the local music scene. Their wild, over the top stage show was loved for its originality that includes plenty of costumes, skits, potential nudity, and huge amounts of obscenity. They played all over the Las Vegas strip, as well as in local bars and on the UNLV campus. Often times instead of booking shows, the two would just show up in class rooms and dormitories to do an impromtu performance that garnered equal parts laughter and looks of confusion. One highlight that Jewish Dave’s mom particularly loved was when they were cut short in their performance at an all-black UNLV talent show because of their bad language and insistence on humping the on-stage trees.

Their first full length album, "Wasted Potential Part 2: Duh Mickztayp" was actually a compilation of their previous EPs and other newly completed songs, released just before Fewkes was set to move to New York for his career. While Rosen continued to work with other groups and artists, he still wanted to do more music with MC Randumb, and so they decided to start work on another album, "Songs In The Key Of Murder," via the Internet. They even managed to shoot a video for "Shut Your Mouth (Or You're Gonna Get Murdered)," the first single off the new album before the song was even recorded (they came up with the song title the day of the shoot during a visit to Las Vegas so they would have a reason to not have to lip synch anything in the video).

"Songs In The Key Of Murder" will be released on Christmas Day, 2011, after a year of recording online. The collection is actually a concept album in which every song is about murder and keeps the horror movie theme running throughout. Songs such as "Murder Motel," "Murder 4 Fun," and the second single, "Musta Been Murda," all have extremely ridiculous, hilarious, murderous lyrics over hardcore beats that would fit right into a gory slasher flick.

The duo hopes to create more music videos for the songs on the album, as well as some planned interactive games to go along with the songs' themes. They are also hoping to plan some more shows the next time they're both in the same city (although they also haven't ruled out the possibility of performing over the Internet).

If you didn’t catch it in the profile above, you are probably still wondering why this group is being featured here. Well, they are featured here because of their latest album “Songs In The Key Of Murder.” The album just doesn’t have one song about murder, but every song on the album is about murder with titles such as, ‘Murder 4 Fun,’ ‘Murder is Reality,’ and ‘Bloody Murder.’ If you don’t believe me, you can find their album at: www.mcrandumbjewishdave.bandcamp.com/It is also available on Bandcamp, iTunes, Amazon, and CDbaby.

They also "just released a game, titled after the record’s second single: “Musta Been Murder.” It’s a demented puzzle game in which you fit severed body parts into differently shaped graves, all while listening to instrumental versions of songs from the album. Beating the game even earns you prizes such as song downloads and free movie tickets to Las Vegas’ Grindhouse theatre, Theatre7 (home of the PollyGrind Film Festival)." You can find the game at: http://www.kongregate.com/games/Sharmandra/musta-been-murder/

The Nocturnal

"I found myself getting immersed in the story."

"I didn't want to put the book down."

"I loved this book."

London was no stranger to war. The Blitzkrieg bombing raids by Nazi Germany during the second World War had decimated the city, but they would rebuild. Years of terrorism from the Irish Republican Army threatened its safety, yet London endured. But those were merely human conflicts, fleeting in comparison with a war now being fought in the moonlit streets and blind alleys of England's capital. For decades, battles have been waged in secret between two rivals, the English government and mankind's greatest enemy, the Vampires. Throughout modern history, the clandestine war has been fought in the shadows of the mortal world.

The Kilpatrick Organization is a top secret, government sanctioned, watchdog agency tasked with the responsibilities of dealing with the undead, and all other supernatural threats. After countless years of hunting them, the leader of the organization, Jonathan Kilpatrick, knows the war is finally coming to an end. Ten years of bloodshed and population control has resulted in the near extinction of the London coven.

The Great Coven of Old Europe sends emissaries to ensure the vampires' continued existence. Though their numbers had been denuded, they would replenish and bring it up to strength. And a new enemy would rise.

When a string of gruesome murders connected to a mysterious Symbol arise, the organization's number one operative is ordered to search and destroy. Midian, a rogue vampire employed by the Kilpatrick Organization, is London's guardian angel. A vengeance seeker in his own right, Midian dedicates his life to the eradication of the human's savage enemy. Unruly vampires fill his veins with hatred and revulsion. His tireless quest to rid society of the undead weighs heavily on his shoulders and the organization he serves.

Unbeknownst to them, the Kilpatrick Organization finds themselves in the crosshairs of an unknown enemy bent on their destruction. A union forms between the vampires and this new antagonist. And if the situation couldn't get any worse, vampires begin to run amuck in the Greater London Area, breaking the code of secrecy, and turning the city into their own feeding ground.

Now, Midian must find the source behind the mysterious Symbol before the city of London falls to the Nocturnal.

“This is a 5 star horror movie if you ask me. Not an ordinary movie, but one with strong 5 stars. The story was unique and not a rehash, the atmosphere was creepy and scary. Unlike many other "horror brands", this is not an usual predictable story with predictable scare.”

“Recommended to fellow fans of low budget horror. Definitely worth a rental.”

“Filled with terror and fear, this film is one of the best that I've watched in 2013. There are just a few movies that frightened me in my whole life, and this one is included in that small collection. Great movie, true representative of a good horror!”

Escaping the Dead

"Escaping the Dead" is inspired by a series of articles about the deathdrug "Krokodil" that was published about the same period of time when Ronald Poppo had his face eaten by a naked man hooked on bathsalt in Miami. It is the perfect zombie plot: a deathdrug that turns people into zombies.

The film has its starting point in a typical day for the lead character, David. David is the local marihuana pusher, but he is the kind of dealer that smokes more than he sells. In the meantime the country has been hit by a new deathdrug and when David and his partner in crime Ahmir is offered some exceptionally cheap cocaine they see it as an opportunity to earn big money at the big techno concert the following Friday, but the cocaine turns out to have a terrible side effect that creates a giant zombie outbreak that spreads across the entire Copenhagen. In the film we follow David and his bloody fight out of the city.

Starring: Bastian Brinch Pedersen (who is also the producer of the film) as David, Rama Øzel as Ahmir, along with Daniel Hutera, Ali Öezkan, Iben Ma Bønnelycke, Nicolai Huan Nguyen, Camilla Ludvigsen and Kim Sønderholm ("Blood Fare", "The Winedancers", "Sinister Visions") playing Lars the policeman.

Directed by: Martin Sonntag and Bastian Brinch Pedersen
