From One of the Very Few Female Horror Directors in Canada - Tricia Lee's ONE DROP Starts Principal Photography

Principal Photography Has Begun on
Horror Director, Tricia Lee’s Third Feature,
One Drop
Starring Lara Gilchrist, Benjamin Arthur, Torri Higginson and Julian Richings.
Indigogo Campaign also Begins

Indiegogo campaign: igg.me/at/one-drop
Twitter: @onedropmovie

One Drop, the terrifying new horror film from director Tricia Lee and A Film Monkey Production, began yesterday in Toronto. Lee, one of the very few successful female directors in the genre, first made a splash on the scene with her first featureClean Break and her second feature Silent Retreat. Since their Best Canadian Feature win at the Toronto After Dark Film Festival, long-time team Tricia Lee and writer Corey Brown have been working on the One Drop script for their new horror creature feature and are excited to see their vision become a reality. Filming runs from April 20 to May 14, 2015. Release is slated for late 2016.

The team has also launched an Indiegogo campaign to start sharing exclusive project updates from set with fans, while also fundraising to complete post-production for the film.

One Drop tells the story of a single mother who wakes up in the basement of a medical facility only to discover that everyone around her is dead and she is somehow nine months pregnant. As she tries to escape, she realizes that something not-quite-human is prowling the hallways, and the only means of survival may be growing inside of her.

In order to bring her chilling vision to life, Tricia Lee and casting director Kristen Henderson has assembled a fantastic cast, and is thrilled to introduce them:

·      Lara Gilchrist (Battlestar Galactica, Defying Gravity)
·      Benjamin Arthur (Less Than Kind, Working the Engels)
·      Torri Higginson (Stargate: Atlantis, The City)
·      Mark Taylor (Flashpoint, Instant Star)
·      Julian Richings (Orphan Black, Septic Man)

These talented actors will join forces to battle a nightmare beyond the reaches of science.  InOne Drop, science is pitted against religion in this suspenseful script that is visually, emotionally and intellectually stimulating.

Right now, the crew is hard at work building sets and SPFX guru Shaun Hunter is creating gruesome prosthetics to make the most frightening film possible. With the support of Producer Chris Luckhardt (Silent Retreat) and Executive Producers Brigitte Kingsley (The Dark Rising Franchise) and Michael Baker (Backcountry, Nostrum), this project was recently selected to attend the Frontieres Genre Co-Production Market in Brussels, Belgium that coincides with the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival.  With an overwhelmingly positive response, the only question remaining is, will audiences be brave enough to watch?

To Hell With A Bullet

A washed up rock singer makes a deal with a mysterious doctor who promises to return his voice to its prime, with horrifying consequences.

Starring: Timothy V. Murphy ("Sons of Anarchy", "Appaloosa"), Ronnie Gene Blevins ("Joe", "Seven Psychopaths"), Danielle Vasinova ("Shinjuku"), and Trenton Rostedt.

Written and directed by: Vick Wright

"To Hell With A Bullet" won the award for "Best Horror Film" at the AOF (Action On Film International Festival) last year.

Check out this review…

"This is one of those amazing films can combine things people have a passion for: Rock and Roll/pacts with the Devil/Horror.

Mr Wright brings us a tale of music, drugs, death and the surreal point …They all go together.

He has star qualities in his film – Timothy V. Murphy is fresh off his run as the Irish Mob Boss on SONS OF ANARCHY and Trenton Rostedt has just been in AGENTS OF SHIELD and GRIMM.

The soundtrack is as incredible as plot needs, Led by Airbourne & Badwater. Needs a companion soundtrack on I-tunes to go with this movie.

Great acting, AWE-some Plot and Killer (pun intended) sound."

New Horror Themed Music Video: Smacktown - Beast Mode II

Electronic Hip-Hop Duo SMACKTOWN Debut New Horror Themed Music Video for “Beast Mode II” –
Featuring Locksmith

Watch it Now:

Often, rappers will make a straight forward music video to their song by finding some kind of "Urban" scenery and rap straight to the camera with some cool b-roll and film editing. Australian duo SMACKTOWN are successfully known for their in your face, storytelling film clips that usually cause somewhat of a controversy especially after their previous single "Chelsea Grin" which involves black magic and a Corrupt Businessman & Catholic Nun getting their faces sliced. ‘Beast Mode II’ has already exceeded that exception to the limit where no publicist will promote it and all mainstream blogs refuse too post it due to being scared of the content. With an opening disclaimer that warns any fake rappers that watch the video will be "Cursed" - the video is filled with drugs, alcohol, guns, blood and more, all with-in one scary cabin.

This video has quickly become a must watch for any Horror film lover.

“American Sniper” Producer Andrew Lazar Takes Aim at “Rupture” as Next Feature Project

“American Sniper” Producer Andrew Lazar Takes Aim at “Rupture” as Next Feature Project for AMBI Group; Steven Shainberg Set to Direct

Lazar Will Produce Sci-Fi Adventure Thriller with AMBI’s Andrea Iervolino and Lady Monika Bacardi as well as Producer Christina Weiss Lurie

Coming off 2014’s highest grossing film, “American Sniper,” Academy Award® nominated producer Andrew Lazar has his sights set on a sci-fi adventure thriller titled “Rupture.”

Steven Shainberg (“Secretary,” “Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus,” “Hit Me”) will direct the film, which is based on a story by Shainberg and Brian Nelson (“Hard Candy,” “30 Days of Night,” “Devil”). Nelson wrote the screenplay.

Details of the project are closely guarded but the premise sees a single mother struggling to raise her son alone, abducted by a mysterious organization. While trying to escape, she uncovers an extraordinary secret about herself.

Tango Pictures production banner, which is a partnership between Christina Weiss Lurie, Steve Shainberg, and Lazar is teaming with AMBI Group (“The Humbling,” “In Dubious Battle” “All Roads Lead to Rome”), the movie development, finance, production and distribution group owned and run by Andrea Iervolino and Lady Monika Bacardi, to make the film. Christina Weiss Lurie (“Inside Job,” “Adam,” “Broken English”), will serve as producer as well.

AMBI Distribution, the worldwide sales arm of AMBI Group is handling international sales and will formally present the project in Cannes.

Said Lazar, “I'm very excited to be partnering with AMBI Group. Andrea and Lady Monika are very forward-thinking financiers and filmmakers, and this film will be the beginning of a fantastic relationship between Tango and AMBI.”

“When Andrew approached us with this project, it may have been our quickest ‘yes’ to date – and we are fast movers!,” said Andrea Iervolino. “’Rupture’ is an ‘event’ movie that has all the elements you’d look for in a massively commercial film. We’re excited to bring this project to life with Andrew, Christina, Steven and Brian.”

Lady Monika Bacardi adds, “We’re fortunate to have such great producing partners in Andrew and Christina, who strive, as we do, to make memorable films and enjoy the process and passion that goes into each production. Couple this with a spellbinding story from Steven Shainberg and our excitement and expectations grow even higher.”

AMBI is currently in production on James Franco’s “In Dubious Battle,” featuring an ensemble cast that includes Franco, Selena Gomez, Vincent D’Onofrio, Robert Duvall, Ed Harris, Bryan Cranston, Nat Wolff, Josh Hutcherson, Zach Braff, Analeigh Tipton, Ashley Greene, Ahna O’Reilly, John Savage and Sam Shepherd. The film is based on Steinbeck's gritty, realist style novel In Dubious Battle, which portrays the struggle between labor and capital in 1930s America as close to all out warfare.

Critically Acclaimed Docu-style Film SHADOW ZOMBIE on VOD and DVD!

BRINKVISION RELEASES THE CRITCIALLY ACCLAIMED DOCUMENTARY-STYLE UNDERGROUND FILM SHADOW ZOMBIE ON VOD AND LIMITED EDITION DVD!

SHADOW ZOMBIE

A Southern tale of love and death set Deep in Louisiana.

BrinkVision releases the critically acclamied documentary style underground cult film SHADOW ZOMBIE on VOD and Limited Edition DVD. SHADOW ZOMBIE stars Kim Filth, who lives with his dad, sells weed to skaters, writes poetry, and snorts painkillers to get through the day. Directed by Jorge Torres-Torres, SHADOW ZOMBIE Shooting under near-documentary conditions in and around Lafayette, Louisiana, Jorge Torres-Torres operates by peopling his film with a coterie of genuine Acadiana misfits. As the imagery swerves like a junkie's waking nightmare from handicap actuality to grotesque realism, a shadow world is hinted at, visible from the one we live in but decidedly separate from it. The merciless and at times unexpectedly poignant observation of Kim's world dares to see through to the human core of a drug addict or clinically depressed clown.

Synopsis:
Meet Kim Filth, and enter his horror-film existence - based on fact and blended with fiction. Kim lives with his dad, sells weed to skaters, writes poetry, and snorts painkillers to get through the day. By night, he likes to stroll around painted up as his alter ego, Shadow Zombie, which is how he meets registered nurse and part-time clown Brandi. What follows is a brief romance marked by destruction by the very real phantoms emanating from Kim's dead-end present and Brandi's traumatic past. As captured by Jorge Torres-Torres under near-documentary conditions, the film chronicles a coterie of genuine misfits in its merciless observation of Kim's world, daring to see past the facades of troubled souls through to their human core.

In Noctus Sol

This is a supernatural horror story that deals with a financially struggling family moving in with their maternal grandmother for a summer.  The house turns out to be haunted but no one except the mentally handicapped uncle and the two young brothers believe this.  The grandmother seems to believe it but does not care.  The ghosts are always present and watching.  Several supernatural/strange events occur until finally one night the parents and some of their AA friends decide to hold a seance for fun.  The seance is a disaster.

Mentioned in a review…

"Good vivid storytelling… has that ominous feel to it.”

#ShareTheHorror

My first novel, The Haunted Halls, came out in July of last year, 2014. I knew the publishing world had changed from the days of the publisher taking care of business for the author. I knew I had to promote my novel myself, and mostly by myself. I had played in punk bands for years (none that were “commercially” successful), and I believed in our talent. I believed in my talent. I could gladly tell you about my band, but I had very little experience in pushing books, and even less confidence in my own ability as a writer. Being new to the writing game, I had to learn fast. And I did.

In October of 2014, The Haunted Halls was followed by my self-published short story collection, Slush. I actually sent out some ARCs (Advanced Reader Copies)!  Hey, I was learning. In January, alongside Samhain favorites, Jonathan Janz, Russell James, and Hunter Shea, Samhain Publishing released my novella, Abram’s Bridge. This month, they unleashed my horror/sci-fi/aliens among us second novella, Boom Town.

In the horror writing world, self-promotion is a talent. There is a delicate balance between getting your work out there and spamming your Facebook friends with your ugly mug and the fiction you have to peddle. Think of it like opening your mailbox: Is your “promotion” like a surprise letter of awesome news that’s going to make them smile or want more? Or, as a lot of self-promoting comes across, does your daily “promo” go the way of those dreaded circulars piling up in their trash? At least with using the internet there’s no paper involved. #SaveTheTrees

I have been pushing Glenn Rolfe novels and novellas for the last ten months. That’s a lot of “me” posts. I don’t want to become an endless stream of e-Circulars.

In the fall of last year, about the time I released Slush, the Horror Writers Association started the “Horror Selfies” campaign:
In 2014, the Horror Writers Association (HWA) created the Horror Selfies campaign in an effort to highlight the exceptional work, both literary and cinematic, produced by the horror genre. Inspired by the popular “Say it with a Sign” meme—used by everyone from Ellen DeGeneres and Jon Bon Jovi, to David Beckham and Princes William and Harry—the HWA is utilizing the vast reach of social media to provide a platform through which people can tell the world why they love horror.

This was a wonderful idea that was conjured by the HWA president, the late Rocky Wood (along with Tom Calen and AJ Klein). If ever there was a person to fall in with, and to compel one to participate in the cause, it was Rocky Wood. What Rocky understood, above all else, is that we (the horror lovers of the world) are a community. And successful communities take care of one another. They praise one another. They know that one member’s success is a success for all of us.

In December, I decided to take this concept and apply it to my daily posts. In order for me to feel comfortable in promoting my own works, I would double up on promoting works by others. I began posting my favorite reads of the years complete with direct links to those works. It was in that first month of being a cheerleader for my favorite horror writers that I coined my own campaign, my own hashtag: #ShareTheHorror

It feels amazing to heap praise upon your favorites and spotlight authors you admire. A lot of members in the horror community are really good at this. Others, not so much. I invite you to #ShareTheHorror today. If you feel good, give it a try for a week. I think you’ll enjoy it enough that you’ll be on the #ShareTheHorror campaign trail for life.

I will tell you to go out and find my best work to date, Boom Town, but while I have your attention, let me also point out five other new pieces of dark fiction worthy of your consideration:

Share your favorites, share what you love….share the horror.

(Very) Graphic Novel, KILL-CRAZY NYMPHOS ATTACK! Kickstarter: Less Than 13 Days Left!!

Hey there!

I want to thank all of you for your amazing support our first graphic novel, Kill-Crazy Nymphos Attack! It's our pleasure to be working with badass writer Daniel Way on a book that is equal parts unbridled anarchy and self aware social commentary.

The story centers upon Purvis Gunt, a malcontent and pervert who works at a pharmaceutical lab. Purvis is obsessed with having rampant, porno-style sex with nearly every woman he sees but it’s never gonna happen for him because, in addition to the fact that he’s married, he’s revolting in every possible way. So he turns to science for a way to cheat the situation, using the resources of the pharmaceutical lab to create something that will cause women to lose any and all inhibition or restraint and fill them with uncontrollable lust. Purvis, however, is a terrible scientist. What he cooks up is a virus that fills women with not only a lust for sex…but for blood!
When the virus gets out and infects the female population of the small town where Purvis lives, carnage ensues and it’s up to Purvis, disgraced priest Father Osorio and super macho but sexually ambiguous SWAT officer Mack Diesel to contain the situation before woman-hating US President Pole drops a nuke on the whole goddamn mess!

We've hit our basic goals, but we want to do everything in our power to be able to deliver the biggest, best, and baddest book to our readers!

We have less than 13 DAYS LEFT in our Kickstarter, so we're throwing on even more stretch goals!

Sylvia and I will be appearing in the book as the "Sister Sisters", timid twin nuns turned maniacal knife wielding man eaters. If we reach 50K, we will have those outfits professionally made by none other than Enigma Arcana, the designers who are not only responsible for iconic wardrobe in AMERICAN MARY, but also every single one of our cosplay looks. We will do a full photo shoot as the Sister Sisters and the photos will ONLY EVER BE RELEASED and ONLY EVER BE AVAILABLE to every single one of our backers. Regardless of how much you throw in, you'll be getting them. And once they're out to our donors, they'll be gone for good. No re-releases, no other way to get them. Animated versions of the "Sister Sisters" attached.

We have tons of amazing incentives including appearing in the book itself as either a Kill-Crazy Nympho yourself or you can join the ranks of horror legend Lloyd Kaufmanand be senselessly slaughtered by me and Sylvie, Kill-Crazy Nympho style.

If we hit our maximum goal we'll be throwing a MASSIVE Kill-Crazy Nymphos Attack! party for all our backers in a major city, but in advance we're throwing an epic fundraiser shin dig in our own backyard, Vancouver, April 30th at the Rio Theater. It'll be a night of cosplay, mayhem, burlesque, fire shows, lap dances, comedy, give aways, special guests, pro photo ops, signature KCNA! Posters by Rob Dumo with YOU drawn in, and so much more!! We have a line up of talented cosplayers to make your night unforgettable. Daniel Way and artist Rob Dumo will both be appearing at the event. (photos of our line up of talent attached)

Death for Dummies

Death for Dummies is:

a.) A heart warming tale of how a boy and his dog triumph against adversity.

b.) A romantic tale of two mismatched lovers and how they triumph against adversity.

c.) A satirical take on the classic zombie genre. Paul Shobnall was the first. He didn't know he was the first and probably wouldn't have cared if he had. If he was concerned with anything at all, it was why he couldn't really feel his legs, why his girlfriend didn't seem to want sex with him anymore and why everybody was gripped by mass-hysteria and genertally running around screaming. It was a really odd Monday morning.

With no particular craving for human flesh, or toast, Paul makes his way to his new job and discovers a world in turmoil...

Death for Dummies follows Paul as he struggles to make sense of a post apocalyptic society, while a post apocalyptic society struggles to make sense of the ever increasing dead who continuously block revolving doors and fail to queue in an orderly fashion. A hysterical novel from writer SA Ellis, and a triumph against adversity.

d.) None of these.

Check out a couple of reviews for this book…

"A satirical look at the rise of the living dead that's part horror, part sci-fi and all jet black comedy. Ellis successfully channels Douglas Adams by way of Martin Amis to deconstruct the zombie sub-genre with wit and pathos. Read."

"I really enjoyed Death for Dummies. The premise is fairly low key, but Ellis’ world building is top notch, his zombies do retain the fear factor, and the wit on display made me smile from beginning to end. At just over one hundred pages it’s a fun, quick read. Recommended."
