About the Film

"Darkest Night" has its roots in horror styles and moods from many eastern and western traditions. Filmed in a "found video and documentary" style, "Darkest Night" depicts a family holiday reunion at an isolated home in the Sagada Mountains. The family's celebration is shattered by bizarre, supernatural and tragic terrors no one can explain. This film is a psychological horror story with intense family drama, suspense, action and shock.

Full Synopsis:

The film is presented as a part-documentary by a TV announcer, Danny Valencia, from "found videotape" he discovered at the site of a 2003 tragedy in the Philippine Sagada Mountains. There are a few interview scenes at the beginning, but most of the film is the main story. On December 25, 2003, an upscale Filipino family gathers at a remote place in the mountains, some distance from any town, for a Christmas Day reunion dinner. Their holiday is disrupted by a series of bizarre, supernatural, and deadly events. The group is cut off from civilization and plunged into darkness by forces that defy natural laws and shut down all modern technology. One by one, the family members die or disappear in weird and horrific ways. The few who are left, including the main character Susan, struggle for survival and against family conflicts, to find out what is happening to them and how to survive. Finally they discover to their own shock, who their true tormentor is, as well as how and why these terrible things are happening. Is it too late to keep the rest of them from dying? Is the fate that awaits them even worse than death or hell? Does a mystical book they find hold the key to controlling the dark forces that threaten to unleash ghosts and demons of an evil past? And finally, can they trust each other, or even themselves to contain the fears that threaten to destroy them? Suspense and mystery keep you unsettled and guessing till the very end, when the fate and outcome of all is finally revealed.

Story - the two sides

You choose human. You’re a member of the emergency services and you’re on an endless night shift. You’re stuck out on a call, and you need to find your fellow humans to survive. 

You can only see as much as your torch allows you, but you can sense there are things out in the dark. Sometimes you can hear whispers. You feel the cold on the back of your neck. And then something SCREAMS.

You choose spirit.  You’re dead. And you’re not happy about it. You have a raging desire to terrify humans. However you don’t like their torchlight, they’re mobilizing into groups and building up arsenals of weapons to use against you, including resurrection. 

A Banshee screams out in the night and you know that a human is alone and vulnerable. You can band together with other spirits to terrify him, or go it alone. Either way, they will be SCARED TO DEATH.

Distribution plans are currently in consideration which will include a North American DVD on the indie-horror label Midnight Releasing and cable/satellite/internet VOD run  as well as being showcased at this year’s 2013 American Film Market. 

About The Film:

Axeman at Cutter’s Creek is a vacation to dismember when nine vacationing twenty-somethings are hunted by an axe-wielding local legend in true 80’s style slasher fashion. The film features scream queens Tiffany Sheppis, Elissa Dowling and Brinke Stevens. The ominous killer is played by NBA superstar Scot Pollard.

Available on Blu-ray, DVD and digital download, “The Cabin in the Woods” was directed and co-written by famed filmmaker Drew Goddard and co-written and produced by sci-fi and horror icon Joss Whedon. The film follows five friends on a college getaway to a remote cabin, and their fate is sealed the moment they walk through the door. They are pawns in a ritual sacrifice that demands blood.

“This is a twisted dream come true for me,” said Goddard. “The Universal team has done an amazing job making all the terrifying aspects of ‘Cabin’ come to life, and horror fans will not be disappointed. At Halloween Horror Nights 23, guests will step inside the menacing cabin from the movie and fend off a malicious family of zombies. Suddenly, a menagerie of bloodthirsty monsters is released – and they’re in the middle of all-out chaos.

The Common Cold: A Zombie Chronicle

Following the New Year celebrations Daniel grudgingly commutes into London to start work in his company’s new offices. His stinking cold doesn’t help his mood any. From the moment he leaves the house, he begins to realise that something is terribly wrong with his fellow commuters, much more than just a hangover from the festivities. The other train passengers are seemingly oblivious to their surroundings: lethargic and lack-lustre, behaving just like zombies in fact. Little does Daniel know how right he is.

With Rob, his American friend and colleague, Daniel rapidly learns how to fight to escape his zombie co-workers and the two battle their way across London to rescue Daniel’s wife, Janet, who is trapped somewhat ridiculously in the local library.

On the way the lads pick up a couple of kids, orphaned after Rob accidentally shoots dead their father.

The motley crew make their way to Daniel and Janet’s house only to find it, along with most of the neighbourhood, blazing merrily. As they no longer have anything left to loose, Daniel and Janet make the brave decision to accompany Rob to America in the hope that things would be better on the other side of the Pond.

Finding Gatwick airport full of crazed infected, the group force their way onto an A380 waiting for take-off clearance to the USA. Little does our band of intrepid fighters know that the virus, or whatever it is, is already on board with terrible consequences.

Additional danger awaits as the plane approaches the US coastline, when the USAF attempt to prevent their entry with deadly force.

By some miracle, the A380 finally lands at Denver Airport, only to find, shockingly, that this has been nuked by the government as a last ditch attempt to contain the violence.

Meanwhile just south of Denver, Rob’s wife, Sandra, has been having her own problems with zombie crazed staff in her local supermarket, a zombiefied neighbour on her couch and a trigger happy bunch of national guardsmen ruining the wallpaper. Not to mention the crazed, murderous toddler in the bedroom.

Update on the upcoming film "Jebadiah's Axe"

Jebadiah’s Axe is the latest feature from Brainpie Media Productions and writer/director Jim DeVault is in post-production in Dallas. The film’s principle photography was completed on June 22, filmed on location in the town of Quinlan, Texas, and deep in 100 acres of woods around Lake Tawakoni.

“We brought together most of the production team we had on Blood Reunion, said DeVault, “then packed up and moved to Tawakoni for most of the production.” The team, including cast and crew, were housed in a building the team referred to as The Compound, The building is provided by Frank Ackenback and Caddo Productions, who also provided the locations where most of the film was shot.

The entire production was a tough one. On the first day at the compound, two extremely poisonous copperhead snakes had to be removed from the building, and during the entire shoot there were occasional encounters with scorpions, and constant assault by mosquitoes and chiggers. “We were lucky, though,” adds DeVault, “in that we didn’t have any close encounters with the aggressive wild pig that run wild out there, just an occasional armadillo.”

The teams 2013 feature, Blood Reunion, tackled the vampire genre. With this new production they take on zombie and slasher genres simultaneously, but not your typical mindless, brain-eating zombies. Jebadiah is an articulate, rational, calculating undead with a mission, and carrying out that mission results in some major carnage.

  “We upped the level of the violence in this one,” says DeVault, “and we used a lot of blood on set. Now it’s in post, and our editor and effects wizard, Wes Sutton, will complete the magic we started.”

In addition, Jebadiah’s Axe shares some cast members with Blood Reunion. Returning to the Brainpie fold are Gail Brewer, Tim Newkirk, Nicole Holt, and Greg Vestal. The cast also includes Latin hottie Deborah Funes and veteran screamer Debbie D.

The film’s premiere is slated for October in Dallas, just in time for Halloween, and the DVD will be released on DVD shortly after that.

New Midnight Syndicate "Monsters of Legend" CD coming July 19

Midnight Syndicate's new "Monsters of Legend" CD to be unleashed July 19^th

June 20, 2013 (Cleveland, OH) - On July 19, Midnight Syndicate will release it's sixteenth studio album, "Monsters of Legend." This "tribute to the golden age of horror" will feature sweeping symphonic horror instrumental music and sound effects in the signature style the band pioneered. "We want to make you feel like you are a character in one of those classic horror films - that you've entered a world where any one of the iconic characters from the Universal Horror and Hammer Films could be right around the corner," said composer Edward Douglas.

The CD artwork features original images from classic Universal Studios horror movies including Frankenstein, Werewolf of London, and Dracula. "Listeners will hear the influence of the Universal Monster, Hammer, and Euro Horror films from the 30s through the 70s, not only in the music but in the images the songs conjure," added Gavin Goszka. Although the band promises the new disc will deliver the dark atmosphere haunted attractions, roleplaying gamers, and Halloween enthusiasts expect from them, they feel they've crafted a disc that transcends their favorite time of the year. "As we did on Carnival Arcane, we're always trying to take things up a notch both musically and with the sound design. There is a lot going on in this one. Plenty to pull you in, spark your imagination, and keep hold of you anytime you're looking to visit that mysterious place in your mind's eye."

The CD will be available for pre-order the first week in July. In addition to other new merchandise, Entity Productions Halloween Music will be releasing a special edition 12" vinyl version of the Monsters of Legend album, hand-numbered and limited to 250 copies.
