Brother's Ilk

Over the last few years, Canadian horror writers have really started to make their mark in the writing world, and last year, I decided to throw my own hat in the ring.  My first story, Open Book, was published in Dark Eclipse issue 7 and was soon followed by The Soldier, which appeared in A Feast of Frights from the Horror Zine.  That was the big step as the book also contained stories by Joe R. Lansdale, Graham Masterton, Simon Clark, Susie Moloney, Tom Piccirilli, Joe Mckinney and so many more.  After that, things have been moving full speed.
I released my own collection called At the Gates of Madness April of last year, which was published independently and has sold well over 10,000 copies.  The book contains eighteen stories, two which are reprints and the rest were all original.  I was told that publishing that way would hurt me and I’d be lucky to sell 10 or 20.  Instead, it has gotten me more recognition and helped me to get published in other anthologies such as Zippered Flesh 2, Dark Light 3, Zombie Gone Wild, Fifty Shades of Decay and the upcoming Shadow Masters, The Horror Zine’s next anthology.
While I am currently working on a new novel called Shutdown, my most recently collection, Brother’s Ilk is now available from Inherit Press on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Tower and numerous other sites.  The book contains 15 all new stories by me and my brother, James Meeks.  Half the book is his, the other half is mine.
James’ stories lean more towards the strange; skating the line of Bizarro fiction with stories like Head Case, Buckets of Money and The Master Plan.  He has also included a new novella by him called Mother/Sister/Death.
The stories I have included move through different horror genres, covering cannibals (Beggar and The Pork Pie Sisters), insanity (All In Vein, By Invitation Only and Faded Star), ghosts (Last Room Available) and the end of the whole mess (my novella, House in the Valley).  There is also a sequel to my story Open Book in this one called Unopened.
The book has been selling well and has already made it on The British Fantasy Society’s recommended page.  Be sure to pick it up and the others as well at any online store right at your fingertips.
