LOS ANGELES, CA (July 17, 2013), Run Like Hell, the first film from director James Thomas, has been picked up for domestic distribution. Gravitas Ventures has secured the VOD rights, while Millennium Entertainment will be partnering to release the film on DVD.

The film centers on four friends in the middle of a cross-country road trip who get sidetracked in the desert town of Spaulding. And they'll take any opportunity they can to RUN LIKE HELL.

Terry M. West unleashes his demons with Heroin in the Magic Now

Terry M. West has spent the least year producing some highly-acclaimed horror fiction. His work is being appreciated by many new readers, but not all of Terry’s work has beenso highly regarded.

“My soft-core film work just about destroyed my reputation and my life,” Terry confided, openly.

Though his horror fiction work was on the rise in the late nineties, Terry took an opportunity in 2000 and wrote/directed a string of erotic parodies and horror erotica of the After Dark kind.

“I didn’t have an issue with what I was doing at the time,” West says. “It was work. I was paid to create and I figured it would help me land other gigs. The content didn’t detour me. I thought I could shine through it, you know. A lot of people who work on adult industry material figure they are bigger than it, and that they can somehow elevate the genre. I thought I was doing that, but it was crap; plain and simple.”

His association with soft-core did lead to his writing/directing chores on Media Blaster’s FLESH FOR THE BEAST, a horror flick with heavy erotic tones. The film has received extremely mixed reviews.

“After I directed Flesh for the Beast, I hit a wall; really hard,” West explained. “My personal life fell apart and I had a falling out with damn near everyone, friends and family alike. It didn’t help that I was going through a mid-life crisis at the time.”

West found himself experimenting with drugs to make the pain go away. “There was a lot going on. I was being crucified unmercifully for the type of work I was doing. I was going through a divorce that this lifestyle of mine had caused. I went into this dark playground as a fairly nice guy, but there is something about it that twists you, after a time. Bad habits are not only acceptable, but expected and encouraged. I grew an addiction quickly and quite honestly prepared myself to die.”

But West managed to persevere and pull himself out of the tailspin. He sobered up andremarried and he even has a child now. West took the better part of a decade to focus on his family life, and he didn’t miss the creative world at all. But horror was in his blood, and in early 2013, he rededicated himself to being the best horror author he could be. He produced two collections, WHAT PRICE GORY? and A PSYCHO’S MEDLEY, as well as the horror/comedy novella, CECIL & BUBBA MEET THE THANG. His short fiction has been accepted into numerous anthologies and he has been praised by readers and fellow horror authors alike.

His film work seldom gets mention these days, but the darkness of that period still lingers in him. “I decided to write HEROIN IN THE MAGIC NOW to get it out of my system, you know? I had written a short story, HARDCORE CRUST, for an anthology called AXES OF EVIL. The story centers around Gary Hack, a desperate junkie film director who lives in a New York City filled with monsters. The universe Gary lives in has witnessed every creature of the night come from the shadows and stand next to man. So, of course, a market for monster fetish pornography blossoms and Gary jumps on it. But it turns out to be a very dark and dangerous occupation.”

After writing the story, Terry felt that some of the demons were exercised from him. “I had toyed with the idea of writing about my experiences in filmmaking, and the story of Gary Hack gave me a safe environment to let it all hang out. Gary Hack is a dark caricature of me. He is what I was on my way to becoming. All of the doubt, self-loathing and pain Gary feels comes from me. He expresses what I went through and felt at the time. There is one line in the story, ‘Gary didn’t want to be a joke or a cautionary tale.’ And that is how I feel. The soft-core work I did is old, now, and I want it to be a verysmall footnote in my career.”

HEROIN IN THE MAGIC NOW will be available for both Kindle and Paperback versions on August 31, 2014!

"The Walking Dead BBQ" and "DEADicated: the film"

The Walking Dead super fan Amanda Rosenblatt was 1 out of 200 lucky fans to experience the BBQ party thrown at Comic-Con this past weekend! She shot an amazing video of this experience, and shared it with us. Now we want to share it with all of you Walking Dead fans. It seemed like an awesome event, and left me extremely jealous!!!!

She also shared her short film called, “DEADicated: the film,” which covers the Walking Dead from a fan perspective. It also shows how much the cast loves its fans!

Enjoy….

I was one of the lucky 200 fans out of over 100k to be given a Walking Dead BBQ wristband, a party thrown by AMC for the fans at San Diego on Friday. The first 20 people or so had camped out overnight, but I arrived and waited starting at around 6 a.m.

"DEADicated: the film" explores the fan community of The Walking Dead followers. Whether the TV show, the graphic novels, the video games, toys - any aspect of this fictional universe is what drives the TWD Family to do what it does. This short film features a fan POV on this fan community with TWD cast interviews, fan interviews, and non-fan opinions to round out this heart felt passion project. The film is dedicated to the memory of Stephanie Picher.

Again, a thank to Amanda for sharing this with us. Please give her a follow on Twitter, and visit her site at:

The Spirit Collectors

There a boy was—in the midst of aged stone and sacred soil—shuffling his feet between rows of eternal rest beds. Clouds of silk veiled the moon and a small breeze chilled his frail body. No matter how many times his mother told him to wear his cloak at night, he always rushed off without it—one too many details for a determined child to concern himself with. His trousers and shirt revealed the wisdom of his age. He could not have cared less about the hair on his arms dancing to the beat of the evening’s briskness. Too preoccupied to even buckle a loose shoe, he walked on.

The range of hills on which Tempertime Cemetery rested was vast—stretching far and wide, dipping down and up. Patches of grass alleviated the expanse of dusty, chalk- like surface. Identical tombstones engraved with the antique styrenei language marked every grave, forming rows and rows of captured death that lined the terrain symmetrically and equidistantly, forming eerie patterns. Punctuating these patterns, intermittent placements of larger and much more intricate stones and sculptures protruded from the cemetery’s repetitive arrangement.

The sculptures were masterfully constructed and darkly beautiful. Most of these monuments were carved in the form of styrenei that reached towards the stars— garments full with the look of blowing wind hanging from their long, slender bodies. Hands of magic, ready to be used, were held in their signals of ancient power. Featherless, webbed wings tucked against their backs waited for flight. Despite the fierce looks of calling upon their three-eyed faces, they were stuck, comatose in stone.

On other larger, more elaborate stones, the symbol of the styrenei—the concentricle—stood high with its six circle-rings of decreasing circumference, one within the other—a forgotten sign to travelers concerning the overlapping of worlds. They rose like beacons that cried out for attention, but only the boy’s deep, hazel eyes gave them any notice.

This was Amory Demshen’s first time at this magnificent place—a place forbidden to his entrance for at least another several years. He had snuck here, compelled by the uncontrollable curiosity and wonder that toiled the dreamscapes of his mind. It was forbidden that anyone lay a foot on Tempertime Cemetery grounds without first knowing the histories and languages of these monuments and passing a rigorous test. Immense danger and sanctity were intertwined here, and so laws were enforced to protect children from exposure to either. Lessons of such things came in stages, and Amory was not close to completing even one of the advanced segments.

That was just part of chapter one from

In the world of Awya, where cities are scattered across isles in a seemingly endless ocean called the Black Waters, an umyn boy by the name of Amory Demshen is unable to suppress the insatiable longing to explore Tempertime Cemetery—a place forbidden to those without proper training and knowledge. After a spryth guides the boy to a realm that links the isles of Awya together, he is thrust into the dreadful role of collecting Spirits by the beguiling Mr. Grey Pearl. To be successful at collecting spirits, Frin, the boy's collecting jar, leads him throughout the Apocryphalum to gather the necessary tools. Powerful beings, potent magic, fantastical creatures, and hidden agendas await Amory at every turn as he spirals deeper and deeper into the darkness of the spirit collectors.

A sharply focused psychological thriller, suspense is pushed to the farthest limits of heart-stopping endurance...

Sun 24 August @ 22:50 – PAN’S LABYRINTH (2006)

The film that secured Guillermo Del Toro’s reputation as one of the finest directors of his generation is essentially a companion piece to his equally as evocative The Devil’s Backbone. His grim spin on ‘Alice in Wonderland’ is a ravishingly presented pitch-black fable for adults. Superbly acted and heartbreakingly beautiful, del Toro’s mesmerizing phantasmagoria is an absolute masterpiece and has deserved the worldwide accolades and awards it has received.

Other UK TV premieres this month include: DEAR MY GACY, based on Jason Moss's memoir about prolific serial killer John Wayne Gacy, giallo-inspired thriller AMER and Mark Vadik’s reality-based CYRUS: MIND OF A SERIAL KILLER.

A true story from the producer of Monster.

Sat 16 August @ 22:50 – AMER (2009) - *UK TV Premiere

An artful masterpiece that gallio fans will absolutely not want to miss. Co-directors Helene Cattet and Bruno Forzani  have created  an immaculately flawless valentine to the 70s thriller genre.
