A post-apocalyptic thriller set in the ruins of a
collapsed America, REFUGE follows a family struggling to survive and rebuild a
life in the wake of a catastrophic plague. Living a lonely existence,
boarded up in an abandoned house, the family endures and strives
to maintain a sense of normalcy amidst a lawless world of roaming gangs
and dwindling resources.
In hiding, they subsist on whatever sparse rations and
supplies that can be scavenged from the surrounding area, while trying their
best to raise an eight-year-old girl named Birdie.
Keeping their distance from all others, daily
existence is one of self-imposed routine and constant vigilance. One day
during a scavenging run, the father, Jack, comes across an injured man and
offers him refuge in their home.
But they find that taking him in may have been a grave
misstep, as his past may have just followed him there too.
