Film News (UK) Shortcuts to Hell 2 Film Competition Announces Finalists
to Face Public Vote
SHORTCUTS
TO HELL 2, launched by Horror Channel, FrightFest, Movie Mogul and Wildseed
Studios has revealed the three filmmakers who will face the public vote to
decide who has their short film financed, produced and shot as a full-length
feature.
The
winner’s film will be produced by Horror Channel, Movie Mogul and Wildseed
Studios, entering production early 2015. The completed feature will receive UK
digital distribution, its world premiere at Film4 FrightFest 2015, and a
broadcast premiere on Horror Channel.
Chosen
from an ultimate shortlist of thirteen entries by a panel of judges, the
three finalists are:

they wear scary Halloween costumes at all times. Then one day, under the spell
of Angele, Hubert decides to remove his mask...
The
voting kicks off on 18 August exclusively at www.horrorchannel.co.uk and
ends on 30 September.
The
finalists will premiere their films at this year’s Film4 FrightFest event at
the Vue West End on 23 August and have an opportunity to win the
hearts and minds of the FrightFest audience.
Of
the judging process John Shackleton of Movie Mogul said: “This year, we were
not just looking for a great short film, we were looking at the potential and
originality of an idea, alongside the filmmakers storytelling prowess and their
ability to deliver the goods under a very restrictive micro budget. On top of
this, we were looking for feature films that we actually wanted to see made and
would be suitably inspired to want to produce and bring to the big screen. I’m
really excited by the final three, of course I have my favourite, as does each
of the judges (we didn’t agree on everything!), but I’d be genuinely happy and
excited to produce any one of these ideas, working with these clearly very
talented individuals.”
Launched
on 13th May 2014, the jury panel were looking for highly driven
individuals with a burning desire to make their first feature film. All entries
submitted a 3-minute short film version of their full-length horror movie idea
which had to clearly demonstrate the core idea, premise, story and characters
in narrative form. Out of the hundreds of entries, a long list of twenty six
was chosen and then whittled down to thirteen, who were invited to an interview
where they had opportunity to pitch their feature film directly to the jury
panel, which consisted of join Rosie Fletcher, acting editor of Total Film,
Horror Channel’s Emily Booth, FrightFest director, Paul McEvoy, Wildseed
Studio’s Creative Director, Jesse Cleverly and Movie Mogul’s John Shackleton.
A feature-length anthology of the shortlisted films, including an
insight into the judging process, will be available to stream or download from
Monday 18th August, exclusively at http://www.TheHorrorShow.TV
