"This
short story gave me chills and played on some of my worst fears. The author
brings horror right in where we all feel safest."
"As
a fan of Stephen King, I found this story riveting."
"'Thomas
Flowers' Hobo is
a chilling examination of the horrors of homelessness in America.
Gripping, terrifying and swimming in a dark sea of moral complexity, it's a
story that isn't afraid to ask uncomfortable questions."
"I
do enjoy horror, I found the short story to be very descriptive which made it
easy to picture the characters. The cannibalism reminds me of the movie
"Hanibal Rising" which I enjoyed as well. I enjoyed the short story
and find it to be realistic, gory and a horrific sequence of events. I
would rate it *****"
"Stunning
horror story."
So
what's this stunning horror story about...
It
started in Houston, Texas. Several bodies have already been discovered, maimed
and mutilated by a group of unknown persons. The police are baffled, calling
the act of a few deranged individuals. The news are reporting the murders to be
the work of something else entirely. What is it? Who is haunting the peaceful
suburb streets in Houston? Crawling out from under the overpass are those we
ignore. But what if something terrible happened, something horrible and ghastly
enough that we could no longer ignore them? When Beverly Marsh spied a lone
hobo standing on the median at the intersection of Fallon and Interstate 59,
and his desperate sign saying, "Any bit will help," she ignored it,
she ignored him, she ignored his eyes, those dark hungry eyes that would come
back to haunt her. When the light flashed green, she sped away, leaving the
shambling hobo behind in a cloud of her exhaust. Two blocks later she slowed
down. After thirty minutes, she forgot his face. In an hour, the entire event
had washed away. But will she be able to ignore the problem when the nightmare
comes home? Will she survive the night or will her idyllic American dream come
to an end?
