Author and filmmaker Gregory Lamberson (The Julian
Year TREEbook, Slime City Massacre) has announced the casting of Michael
Thurber in Killer Rack, which begins shooting in Buffalo, New York at the end
of July. Thurber, who has been featured in several genre films directed
by Richard Griffin, and who just won Best Actor at Terror Con Film Festival for
his starring role in Griffin’s Dr. Frankenstein’s Hungry Dead, will
play Mr. Raquel, the sexist office boss whose favoritism toward well
endowed females drives heroine Betty (Jessica Zwolak) to seek breast implants
from Dr. Thulu (Debbie Rochon), with outrageous consequences. The cast
also includes Brooke Lewis, Lloyd Kaufman and Roy Frumkes.
“Michael Thurber is one of the greatest actors working
in independent films today, regardless of genre,” says Lamberson. “When
Debbie hired me to line produce Model Hunger, Michael was part of the
package, and I soon learned why: his performance in Richard Griffin’s Exhumed
is not to be missed. He blew us away on Hunger, and we
can’t wait to have him back in Buffalo, where he’s beloved. I
honestly believe he has what it takes to become one of the great horror
icons of our time, the modern equivalent of Karloff or Price.
In our film he’s strictly doing comedy, which I know is going to be
a lot of fun.”
Thurber’s
scenes will be opposite Zwolak and her co-star Paul McGinnis, who
wrote the screenplay, and Samantha Hoy, who also appeared in Model Hunger.
"I am so pleased and honored to be heading BACK North to work with
the GREAT Greg Lamberson et al,” says Thurber. “Exciting script and wonderful
people!! Get ready, Buffalo - he's coming back!!
Filmmaker
Brett Piper recently signed on to do stop motion animation for the film, and
