A
new addition to the great new wave of Latin American Psychological Horror
Films.
Los
Angeles, CA (July 23, 2013) – Hot up and coming Mexican writer/director David
Michán has partnered up with veteran Brazilian writer/producer Deborah Calla to
produce the scariest and most elegant of the Latin American psychological
horror films, EAT ME.
“When
a successful restaurant critic develops a taste for human flesh he spirals
downwards into a journey that reveals his true nature.”
Combining
the best of both worlds, EAT ME will be shot in the US while keeping its Latin
storytelling sensibility.
“The
premise of EAT ME is about loneliness, hedonism and banality of men who commit
dreadful acts to please their carnal desires which eventually lead them to
nothing else but their own self-destruction, said David Michán. “David and I
are both passionate about themes that push the envelope and don’t shy away from
tough visuals, we’re planning a scary ride with many bumps and turns” ads
Deborah Calla.
EAT
ME, the screenplay, is an official selection of the 2013 Friday Fright Night
Festival screenwriting competition, a quarter finalist of the Scream Craft
Horror Script Contest in Association with the Blood List 2013, and a selection
of IMCINE (Instituto Mexicano de Cinematografía) for the very prestigious
“Incentive Program for Motion Pictures Creators 2013” (Programa de Estímulu a
Creadores Cinematográficos 2013).
Financing
and casting for EAT ME is underway and the film is scheduled to go into
production early 2014 in New York City.
