The
Master Would Approve
Ship
to Shore PhonoCo. announced today that - as decreed by their god of primal
darkness - they have pressed the original soundtrack to Manos: The
Hands Of Fate onto
glorious vinyl and are now taking pre-orders for the LP, which is to be
released mid-September!
"The
score to Manos: The Hands of Fate was a complete and magical
surprise. Away fromits charmingly inept Poverty Row cinema origins, Russ
Huddleston and Robert Smith, Jr's score is revealed as a maddening vortex of
incessant light jazz - trapping you inexorably in the dubious company of Torgo
and his punitive Master. It comes over like killer Krzyzstof Komeda cues for an
early Polanski short, or an early 60s Chico Hamilton session... Ship to Shore
have clearly seen Manos with better ears than the rest of us who have relegated
/ elevated it to lazy "Worst Movie" status for the last half century,
and as a listening experience they have finally revealed it to be as much fun
as a Russ Meyer soundtrack or a truly demented stream-of-consciousness radio
play."

Manos:
The Hands Of Fate captured
the hearts & minds of B-movie aficionados everywhere since its legendary
treatment by Mystery Science Theater 3000 got it the
attention it sorely missed on its initial cinema release in 1966. The
wonderful lo-fi jazz score by Russ Huddleston and Robert Smith Jr. is an
integral part of the movie's charm and Ship to Shore PhonoCo. are proud to
announce this release as part of their roster. "Thou hast taught us,
O Manos, and we hath listened! Give ear to our words, O Manos, and hear
us! Hear us! Hear us!"
