CALL FOR ENTRIES – Razor Reel presents “FLANDERS FILM FESTIVAL”
After six editions of the Razor Reel Fantastic Film Festival (Bruges), in 2014, the film festival has been transformed into the Flanders Film Festival. The only Flemish genre film festival takes place from 6 November to 15 November 2014in the city center of Bruges. During the course of 10 days, we present a quality selection of the best national and international genre films (fantasy, thrillers, action, comedies, animated films,...) to our audience, in a unique, intimate and cosy atmosphere! We also welcome many guests and we host lectures, workshops and conferences that enrich the visitor’s knowledge.
These are important parts of the program:
European Film Village
The European Film Village highlights a wide gamut of several European independent genre film productions, ranging from independent fiction films and experimental films to documentaries. The emphasis is put on the surprising European short film industry.
In a period of 8 days, we give the audience the chance to get to know several European genre shorts (max. 25 minutes), divided into shorts segments, according to themes and content. Our goal is to highlight the creativity, the innovative character and the diversity of the European genre short and to offer a platform for talented European makers of short films!
Focus on a European host country
Every year, Flanders Film Festival puts the emphasis on the genre film industry of a European host country. We program shorts, documentaries, fiction films, experimental films, retrospectives, animated films, ... that you can relate in some fashion to the genre film and that put the spotlight on the country.
Competitions
Young Blood Award
With “Young Blood”, the Flanders Film Festival offers a platform to starting film makers (first or second movie) and we put the spotlights on talented newcomers from the international genre film. The “Young Blood Award” rewards the best international starting film maker in the genre film.
Méliès d’Argent
In view of our adherence to the European Federation of Fantastic Film Festivals (EFFFF), we organize the Méliès d’Argent shorts competition, that awards the best European fantastic short film (max. 25 minutes). With this competition, the Flanders Film Festival wants to support beginning and innovative European talented makers of short films and highlight the quality fantastic short film. The winner of the Flanders Film Festival nomination can compete, along with other European nomination winners, for the Méliès d’Or for best European fantastic short film, that is handed out every year at the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival.
Best of the Festival – Audience awards
At the Flanders Film Festival, we also give the audience a voice by awarding an audience award for best short film and best feature film!
The Flanders Film Festival encourages genre film makers, distributors and ‘sales agents’ to send in their feature film or short film for the upcoming edition of the Flanders Film Festival.
