Meet Elliot: The New Face of Cyber Nightmares!

San Francisco,California--September  26th, 2013

Many of you underground horror fans may have caught a glimpse of a morbid conceptual sci-fi short titled WIREBOY, a cyber nightmare from Cassandra Sechler. Now...comes an equally morbid feature film to be shot on magnetic tape from Craig Jacobson: ELLIOT, the new face of cyber nightmares!

While director Craig Jacobson continues many of the themes, visual aesthetics, and concepts introduced in WIREBOY, he explores them through different angles with a completely new and unique narrative for ELLIOT. To give you an idea of what to expect in ELLIOT, imagine if Terry Gilliam’s BRAZIL took place in the world of WIREBOY, with traces of cyber debris amalgamation in TETSUO: THE IRON MAN combined with the existential crisis of ROBOCOP and the embedded social criticism of David Cronenberg’s films.

ELLIOT is a dark dystopian thriller with an underlying social commentary on the way our existence is changing through social media and new technologies. The story of Elliot is inspired by spiders and focuses on the struggle of one man grappling with his second self, the distrust of his own cognition, and the anxiety brought on by his external obligations. The themes in the film reflect a deep critique of society and the obsessions with maintenance necessary for the second self and the detrimental implications therein.

The production is underway with several scenes for the film already shot. The cast and crew has been formed, consisting of enthusiastic local artists and friends such as Anthony Russell, Peter Cochrane, Geoffrey Colburn, Joshua Coffy, Phoebe Osborne, John Espey, Anthony Lerma, Hannah Choe, Colton Long, as well as longtime collaborator and Dreams For Dead Cats Productions partner Cassandra Sechler. The only thing the team for ELLIOT needs to fully realize the film are the remaining supplies for set, costumes, makeup, effects, and prop building along with an appropriate space to first construct and then house the large set pieces for several days of shooting for the main scenes in the story.

To acquire production funds, the team has turned to crowdfunding and have launched an IndieGoGo campaign to raise money which will be used to rent out a studio space and purchase materials to build the set and remaining materials to make it all happen. Posters, copies of the film on dvd and VHS, as well as the soundtrack on both cd and cassette tape, and other extremely limited edition, campaign specific surprises are being given away to backers of the project.

For those of you who have yet to see WIREBOY and want to get a taste of what you might be in for with ELLIOT (times 1000, plus dialogue, and the richest soundtrack yet to be experienced with visuals and concepts that will melt your heart and mind), you may view Wireboy online until October 31st on vimeo! So check it out, and then check out ELLIOT and help make this dark, poignant film a reality and create a well-deserved monster of a feature film!
