The House with the Red Door

The Madam of The House with the Red Door was concerned. Business was meager, and her girls, once the most ravishing in town, were aging. Their looks were fading as quickly as the formerly prominent cathouse. In an act of desperation, she returned to work alongside her girls, hoping her devastating beauty would last forever.

He Ping was a lonely Chinese man with a secret love for the Madam of The House with the Red Door. His fear of rejection kept him from disclosing his true feelings. Working as a caretaker for the house of ill-repute allowed him to remain close to the one he intensely loved.

One evening, the Madam was murdered by a client. He Ping found her lying dead on the floor. Immediately, he knew what he must do. Invoking an old Chinese resurrection ritual, he placed a hand-carved jade Cicada on the Madam’s tongue. Within twenty-four hours, his love would return to him. Upon finding out what He Ping had done, she devises a plan to save the house she gave her life for. Using He Ping’s ancient secret, and preying on his obsession, she persuades him to poison the young beauties of the House and perform the resurrection ritual to keep them desirable forever.

As business thrives, more and more girls are drawn to the House’s promise of a lavish lifestyle. Luxurious gifts and unending compliments from the wealthy clientele offer the promise of a life of privilege. Unaware of the reality behind the House, they come willingly to enjoy this good life. However, one by one, they are surreptitiously transformed by He Ping. These radiant zombies are now trapped by magic’s consequences. Only alive by moonlight, they are imprisoned by The House with the Red Door. If any courtesan attempted escape, the curse placed upon them would result in rapid deterioration, followed by immediate death.

One fateful night, three young men descend upon the bordello looking for beautiful women with no reservations. One had just been devastated by the love of his life and his friends wanted to relieve his heartache. They had no idea what was waiting for them at The House with the Red Door.
