If you watched the video above, you know what we have
to do… save the girl! In order to do that, you need to support this project.
However, I know you want to know a little about it first so…
When
four friends go camping on the South Downs, they are quite literally tortured
by their past.
That’s
just the basics. A girl’s life hangs in the balance so why don’t I let the
director give you a little more detail…
Directors statement:
Backtrack is the story of
Ralph, a 21 year-old from Brighton, and three of his friends who visit the
South Downs following a past-life regression in which he experiences memories
of himself as a Nazi commando, operating in wartime Britain.
At
the start of the film, Ralph unlocks something from his past and triggers a
chain of events that lead to a bloody climax in a dilapidated barn. From the
outset, supernatural forces urge Ralph to confront his murderous past-life.
Although unaware of the causes, his friends are also troubled psychologically,
which explains why they agree to follow him on his bizarre mission to the South
Downs; subliminally, they share in Ralph’s quest.
The
truth they uncover is deeply disturbing. Ralph learns he was once a Nazi
commando who committed war crimes in the name of the Fatherland, including the
cold-blooded murder of a mother and her three children.
The
children’s father, an ex-RAF pilot scarred by experimental skin grafts, is out
for revenge and has been planning for their arrival for many years.
He
intends to draw on his own experiences of suffering and take his revenge by
burning them to death piece by piece with a pre-war blowtorch.
This
is a psychological horror film with a torture porn climax. It brings together
four young intelligent and attractive leads, Nazi war crimes and a psychopath
hell-bent on revenge, and drops them all into the typically English splendour
of the South Downs.
The
real antagonist in this film is the past. The film evokes the past’s power to
affect our present. The characters are subliminally dragged back to the sins of
their past-lives, which is reflected through subtle changes in art direction
and sound design as they hurtle towards their fate.
Whilst the film is served by violence and nudity, we remain committed to
telling the story with integrity from start to finish. These aren’t just cheap
thrills; we’re scaring people psychologically. The audience will leave the
cinema wondering about their own past lives, and how the past might be
hunting them down.
