What
does ‘Halloween’… ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’… ‘It’… ‘The Wolfman’… ‘Dracula’…
‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’… all have in common?
Yes
they’re all horror classics, but they have all been remade and released for a
brand new audience…
Remakes
and Reboots and Clones; oh my!
Several
films of all genres are being remade and rebooted for newer audiences;
sometimes with no respect for the original. Some storylines or mythologies are
being revamped from a different POV to make the characters more… likeable.
Twinkling
vampires? Warm blooded zombies? Friendly ghosts? (Okay the last one had nothing
to do with horror but technically nether do the first two!)
In
a time where it seems that remakes have dominated films of all genres; can an
original idea come forth to save us from the mountain of ‘cloned’ and remade
films? Is there anything new under the sun when it comes to horror?
Ah,
probably not!
But
wait! There is new blood in the horror genre to save the day! “Psychosis Y
Dementia – A Love Story”
In
the early 1500’s, in Central America; A 400 year old Mayan beast of retribution
is revived by the blood of an innocent victim to exact revenge. The creature
continues his rampage until his bloodthirsty path crosses with the daughter of
the murder victim. Now the creature must choose between meting out justice; or
protecting this woman from a band of cutthroat gang members…
(That
sounds innovative; tell me more!)
The
demon was originally summoned by a Mayan medicine man to avenge the slaughter
of his tribe by marauding invaders seeking gold. The creature was captured and
bound by a blessed golden mask and buried. Around the mid-1900’s; he is
reincarnated in the body of a dead renegade biker. A killer then inadvertently
disposes of a bloody machete on his shallow grave. The creature can now
continue his unholy mission to avenge the innocent.
(But
what makes him… loveable?)
Glad
you asked. Just as TV audiences grew to love ‘Dexter’ as the man who killed
serial killers; the demon; “Psychosis” kills those who are in ‘need’ of
killing. Now set in the mid-1900’s; the creature metes out justice in brutal
fashion using the Spanish machete called a ‘Panga’. The audience will get
caught up in the revenge killings and will actually cheer for the creature. The
story continues to a surprise ending that no one sees coming.
Titled:
“Psychosis Y Dementia – A Love Story”; is the newest concept combining Spanish
horror and romance. Don’t get me wrong. No Edward and Bella here. There is no
Romeo zombie. There is plenty of blood, gore and body parts everywhere to
satisfy the horror/slasher aficionado.
Presently
the film project is making its rounds on Juntobox.com waiting
to be green lit by Forest Whitaker; meanwhile the full length novel is slated
to be published in April 2015 on amazon.com and
Kindle. The comic book; inked by Cristian Sauret, is due to be published in
time for NYC Comic Con 2015 and will be available worldwide.
Follow
the film project and give it five stars and maybe; in the near future someone
will remake it!
Help
me make ‘Psychosis’ the next horror film Icon! Thank you!
Stay
tooned!
