Día
de Muertos is
a celebration of the living to honor the Lively Dead. We’ll gather to remember
those – the Good, the Great, and the Awesome – who have passed through the
Veil, into the Clearing, and kicked the Bucket before us. It’s a party, after
all, so bring your dancing shoes and a healthy case of Boogie Fever. Toast the
Honored at la ofrenda and leave your own offering and/or photo
(of course you can have it back) and then party among the Presently Passed with
traditional food, wicked drinks, and music to rattle your bones.
Proceeds benefit the Dominican Literacy Center and the Sienna Literacy Center, and we are proud to make them our permanent
charities, ensuring that people of all ages discover the magic and power of
reading as well as improve their lives with a strong educational foundation.
Contest
for the best calaveras y calacas, as well as a Boner (our statuette) for best
couple will be awarded.
We’ve
prepared special drinks to aid in communicating with those inhabiting the Great
Beyond and there will be a 50/50 raffle to line your own future coffin.
You’ll
honor us by honoring Them at Berkley VFW Post 9222, November 1, 2014, gates at
8:00 p.m.
