A
Grim Becoming is
a horror comedy that follows Raphael, a young and bitter
executive, who is on the verge of losing a multimillion dollar
architectural deal with a large distribution company lead by the awkward
Stanford brothers. Raphael suffers a sudden death in his family and has to
immediately leave to go to the funeral in his home town of Metzburgh. Seeing
this as his big chance to get ahead is Wayne, a jealous co-worker, who is
in competition with Raphael. As Raphael returns to Metzburgh, he experiences a
life changing event: witnessing a Grim Reaper taking a soul. This sighting
results in Raphael becoming a Reaper and having to explore his own conscience
and the lengths he will go to get his own life back. But Death, or as he
likes to call himself “Magoo”, has other plans for the naive young
executive.
A
Grim Becoming possibly
may have one of the best actor line-ups in independent horror
film of 2014. Director Adam R Steigert had this to say about the project “A
Grim Becoming was
a fun and hard project to work on. I don’t think there was an easy
day during filming. One of my favorite things about this
project is that we used a lot of puppetry in this film. So when
you watch the finished project, a lot of the creature effects look so
natural because we did them practically: no CGI involved. I even at
times worked as a puppeteer during filming. When it came to working
as many indie icons as we had on this film, I was
even taken back at times saying: ‘How the hell did I get a chance to
direct so many horror icons on one project?’ I am seriously looking
forward to seeing what an audience thinks about the
final product because a lot of these actors are taken out of the
normal types ofroles they play in films.”
